The best way to add a photo to a forum post is to add a link that points to where the photo is located on a photo hosting website like flickr, photo bucket, etc.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_hosting_service

http://www.flickr.com/
http://photobucket.com/
http://www.smugmug.com/
http://imageshack.us/

You can also "attach" the photo by clicking on "additional options", then "browse" then the photo location on your desktop or wherever. Several problems may occur if you make an attachment though.

Attachment restrictions:

Max. size per attachment: 1000 kb
Max attachment size per post:  4000 kb
Allowed attachment extensions: jpg,gif,png,doc,mpg,pdf,txt,mp3
Maximum width of thumbnails: 600 px
Maximum height of thumbnails: 400 px

If you exceed any of these numbers, you will get an "Error 500" message when you try to attach it. You may have to use a photo editing program like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements (or equivalent) to resize it so that the numbers are below the maximums.

Using a photo hosting service and linking to your photo there will avoid any of these potential problems. Plus, if you elect to attach the photo, it becomes part of our forum (the photo resides in our forum folder)....and adds to the size of our forum folder....which can end up slowing the forum down if we get a lot of large photos in there. It's better to let it sit on someone else's server instead of ours.
