Segment #1: Seahawks @ Raiders Postgame review and Raiders' preseason recap

Raider Greg reviews the Raiders' preseason, ending with their surprising performance in Oakland on Thursday. Derek Carr and the whole team put on a brilliant performance that you would never expect in game four of the preseason against the World Champion Seattle Seahawks. Raider Greg was there and shares his perspective on the game. He almost didn't go.

Segment #2: Do we have a QB Controversy? Should we Start the Carr?

Dennis Allen seemed like he was having trouble finding the right words after Derek Carr took center stage in his first NFL start, even if it was just a preseason game. Raider Nation seems overwhelmingly in favor of Carr starting our regular season opener vs the Jets in New York. Dennis Allen says he will evaluate the situation on Monday when Matt Schaub reports. He will evaluate Schaub's elbow tendonitis and start deciding on his starter.

They are ranking head coach Dennis Allen as the 32nd best head coach in the NFL. Segment #2: "Oakland Raiders free agent signings - so far"

We haven't seen much in the way of the Raiders locking up their own free agents to new contracts prior to the start of free agency. Taiwan Jones and Khalif Barnes are the two recent signings. Segment #1: "Raiders looking into a new 56,500 seat stadium in Oakland"

The Raiders and the City of Oakland are studying the feasibility of building a new stadium on the current site in Oakland that would have 56,500 seats. The Raiders say they could contribute $300 Million towards the estimated $800 Million project. If the NFL gave them a $200 Million loan as they did for the 49ers, this would leave $300 Million. They estimate $100 Million could be gathered via personal seat licenses. This still leaves $200 Million, and the city and county still owe $100 Million from the previous coliseum renovations in 1995.

Segment #2: "Oakland Raiders ranked #32 in the PFT Pre-season Power Rankings"

TOPICS:

Segment #1: "Just FLYNN Baby!"

Carson Palmer is out (traded to Arizona) and Matt Flynn is in (acquired by trade from the Seattle Seahawks). The Seahawks will receive a fifth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and a conditional pick in the 2015 draft. This leaves a big question mark on Terrelle Pryor. The Raiders say there will be an open competition, but they are still bringing other QBs in to Alameda for tryouts, so what is their thinking about Pryor? We hear some of Matt Flynn's introductory press conference and Raider Greg gives his opinion on these developments.

Segment #2: "What is Reggie McKenzie's Matrix? - New free agent signings"

The Raiders signed several new defensive players, running back Rashad Jennings, and there are reports of more players coming in to Alameda almost on a daily basis. GM Reggie McKenzie is getting out from under the expensive contracts and signing a lot of short-term deals at reasonable prices. We should have a lot of cap space in 2014 as a result. We go over some of the latest developments.

Segment #3: "The NFL Draft is only two weeks away!"

The draft will be here before we know it. Will Reggie trade our #3 overall pick away to get more picks? We will know soon.

TOPICS:

Segment #1: "Tuck THIS!"

NFL owners approved all six of the rule changes proposed by the Competition Committee, including the elimination of the "tuck rule". The rule that never should have been, which stopped the Raiders from advancing to the AFC Championship game on January 19, 2002. Raider nation is a little upset that the NFL defended the rule for so long, and now is finally eliminating it. We relive that painful event one more time, and Raider Greg gives his take.

Segment #2: "Burn it to the GROUND!"

GM Reggie McKenzie looks to be beginning a major rebuilding of the Raiders by not retaining a few former key players and picking up some reasonably priced free agents for our defense. Will there be any more free agent moves, or have we seen the last for this off-season? Raider Greg gives his thoughts.

Segment #3: "What will Reggie do in the Raiders 2013 draft?"

Will we keep our #3 overall pick and use it ourselves? If so, on who? Defensive lineman? Linebacker? Quarterback? Will Reggie trade down for more picks? Will we take a QB in the later rounds? What about Carson Palmer's situation. That could have a major bearing on what we do in the upcoming draft. Will Terrelle Pryor be our starting QB, or will it be someone we don't yet have?

TOPICS:

Segment #1: "Raiders News Tidbits"

Raider Greg covers a few tidbits of Raiders news. What are the Raiders' plans? Will we gain any free agents, or just lose them? What will Reggie McKenzie do in the draft? Raider Greg goes on a rant.

Segment #2: "Raiders Free Agent Fragility"

The Raiders have quite a few free agents. We haven't heard of much in the re-signing area, other than the restructuring of Mike Brisiel's contract. Nnamdi Asumugha is a free agent. Will the Raiders make a move for him? Will we keep Carson Palmer? What will happen with Terrell Pryor? We haven't heard much from the Raiders lately. Do they have a secret plan? We should start finding out some things soon, as free agency starts next week.

Segment #3: "The 2013 NFL Scouting Combine Recap and Draft Preview"

TOPICS:

Segment #1: "King Goodell?"

It was recently reported that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made $29.5 Million in 2011. Raider Greg gives his opinion on this story.

Segment #2: "New Raiders Coaching Staff Meets The Media"

The new Raiders assistant coaches met with the media at Raiders headquarters recently. There are videos of the meetings on Raiders.com and we added some of the audio to this show. Questions and answers with new Raiders Offensive Coordinator Greg Olson, O-Line Coach Tony Sparano, Special Teams Coach Bobby April, and Linebackers Coach Bob Sanders. Raider Greg watched the videos and gives you his impression of the new coaches and what they said.

Segment #3: "Mt. Davis will be tarped over for the 2013 season"

In a new approach to selling out the Oakland Coliseum for every game to avoid television blackouts, the Raiders will tarp over the upper deck of Mt. Davis this season. This will reduce the capacity of the Coliseum to 53,250 (down from 64,200). People with season tickets in that upper section will be relocated to the 3rd deck of the "old" section of the Coliseum. Since those Mt. Davis ticket holders were paying $25 per game, all other seats in the 3rd deck will be reduced in price down to $25 per game. Raider Greg is happy. His 3rd deck 50 yd. line seat will drop from his original $82 per game price down to $25 per game. The other sections of the Coliseum will see a $1 per game reduction in price.

TOPICS:

Tim Brown has been giving out his opinion that Bill Callahan, Raiders head coach for their 2003 Superbowl XXXVII appearance, actually "sabotaged" the game for the Raiders - to let his "friend" and Superbowl opponent Jon Gruden win the game for the Tampa Bay Bucs. TOPICS:

Segment #1: "Condolences to Dennis Allen and family"

Dennis Allen was informed on Monday that his 66 year old father and ex-NFL player had suffered cardiac arrest and was in intensive care. Coach Gruden flew to his bedside, but his father did not regain consciousness. He was taken off of life support yesterday. Raider Nation is saddened, and we send out heartfelt condolences.

Segment #2: "W.W.A.D.D."

What would Al Davis do? If Al Davis was still running the Raiders in 2012, what would he be doing right about now, and at the end of the season? We hear thoughts from Greg Papa, Bill Romanowski and Rod Woodson via "The Football Hour" segment on 95.7 "The Game" radio.

Segment #3: "Raiders NFL Draft 2013"

What will the Raiders do in the 2013 NFL Draft? Who will they pick in the first round? Will they keep that pick or trade out for multiple extra picks? Raider Greg gives his thoughts and we hear from 95.7 "The Game" draft correspondent Russ Lande, who has done one of the first mock drafts.

Segment #4: "Have the Raiders spoken to Jon Gruden about returning or not?"

A rumor began yesterday with Hub Arkush of Pro Football Weekly, saying that they got reliable information that the Raiders have spoken with Jon Gruden regarding a position with the team. Initially Raider Greg started doing this segment with the idea that this was just a rumor and probably had no substance. Just after finishing the podcast, more information came out via radio 95.7 "The Game" supporting this story. The Raiders then sent a message out to the media, which was read on 95.7, saying that these rumors were false. Raiders' media relations head Zak Gilbert added that he felt it was in poor taste by the media to be spreading such rumors at a time like this, when Dennis Allen had just lost his father. The staff at 95.7 "The Game" then had Hub Arkush on via telephone to tell his own story. We have included audio of all of this in this segment of the podcast. It will be interesting to see what comes of all this.
