You can all forget getting a really good coach! Nobody will deal with AL's crap and he won't pay anyone anyway............................so just stop wishing......................much like my wish for MICHAEL VICK! It will never happen!I got to agree here....What great coach will want the owner to pick his staff.......NONE! What great coach will let the owner pick the Draft picks.....NONE......Al Davis is a control freek with a HUGE ego. He cannot be upstaged. The coach cannot be bigger than the great Al Davis and if he is.......He is Gone....The other problem is Mike Taylor and John (douchbag) Herrera, both are Snakes that hide in bathroom stalls looking for a foot to tap......This poison MUST be flushed out of Alameda for us to become great......The Cancer has taken its toll.....Fuck these Fools..... :-X
R U people fucking insane? 2-8 outside the division. Pulling our starting QB after 6 quarters. A offensive line that still can't handle a line stunt. Poor coaching challenges. Horrible replay challenges that cost precious time outs. Clock mismanagement. Lack of Discipline. The con job he gave the raider nation about DHB. Great 2 more wins than last year. We still can't beat elite teams. The Fraudgers were down this year, the ho's were only better than the panthers. Should have sweep the NFC West.ok football genius, who is going to want to coach with Al's medding ways? Please enlighten us. By the way, you obviously don't pay attention to the team because last year we only won 5 games. So by my count that is 3 extra wins. Nice math! ???
Look at the sub-500 teams we lost 2
Texans
Titans
Cardinals
4.9ers
Dolphins
Our out of division wins came against 2 sub-500 teams from the terrible NFC West
Curly-Joe must go
I hate this shit...2 days after a big fucking win and the best season since '02 and we have no clue wtf is going on....

That's nothing new. It's the RAIDER MYSTIQUE!
I don't think that the Raiders have ever made many press announcements, even in their best years.
Hearing nothing from the Raiders management doesn't necessarily mean that nothing is happening behind the scenes. Remember last off-season? Everyone was getting all upset prior to the draft and during free agency....saying that the Raiders weren't doing squat while all the other teams were making moves....then we had that great draft shortly afterward. The Raiders were obviously hard at work, they just weren't letting everyone know what they were working on.
Obviously, when you're planning to go after personnel (players, coaches, or administrators) that other teams might also want, why would you make a press announcement telling everyone what your plans are? As far as new coaches go, the Raiders aren't allowed to speak to any coaches who are in the postseason, until they are eliminated....so you know how THAT GOES. The wait begins...
We roll with Cable and H.Jackson for next year. If H.Jackson leaves for SF then we replace the OC. I'd love to get Harbaugh BUT if he didn't want the job last year (rumoured to be offered it) why would he consider it this year. It's not like he's going to get a chance to pick his staff.....
When the media talks about Coach Cable's overall record as head coach they always forget he was lumbered with Russell when he came in and it was not till this year that he made the choices re QB and the development of our new young talent.
We roll with Cable and H.Jackson for next year. If H.Jackson leaves for SF then we replace the OC. I'd love to get Harbaugh BUT if he didn't want the job last year (rumoured to be offered it) why would he consider it this year. It's not like he's going to get a chance to pick his staff.....Cable is Gone if Jackson gets the offer at San Fran......It was Jackson that put this offense in gear not Cable.....BUT.....NO one knows but Davis.....HE is the one that keeps the Raider Nation in the Dark on this kind of thing......I don't care anymore.....WTF can we do...NOTHING. NO GM = Bad choices.....Plain and simple......
We already know H. Jackson would, which is your backup plan. There are also many offensive and defensive coordinators who would take the chance at being head coach. Dan Snyder landed Shanarat and everyone knows Snyder is a noisy, know nothing owner. How about Childress?
Hey Keith.
This is exactly the reason why Cable should go. a 3 win improvement with no Jamarcus Russell in our lineup and all the other good things that have happened this offseason.
Cable Underachieved... He's been promising playoffs the last 2 years and failed to deliver both times.
Jackson would keep the current stability in place. Curly-Joe made decisions that cost the raiders games, a division and the playoffs
Ahhh, Childress took his team to the NFC championship game last year. Made the playoffs 3 out of 5 years. Hardly the Norv Turner of the NFC. He is surely a better coach than Curly-Joe
The Eagles OC is also looking at HC positions.
Jabusto is not the only one who contributed to his downfall. Cable never liked him and sought ways to undercut him. Jabusto would be told by Cable to report by a certain time then whine that Jabusto would never come in early.
Jabusto would get nothing but negative feedback from Cable althought Cable would always give positive feedback to the other QB's.
He would blame Jabusto for missing reads the o-line was suppose to make.
Jabusto would ask Cable questions in meeting and at practice and Cable would always respond with Don't worry about it. So give me a break about Jabusto.
Didn't the Chefs have a knew OC and DC also? Didn't the chefs also have injuries and rookies? You're giving shitty excuses. The team has gotten better because they have better talent. They still went 2-8 outside their division loosing to teams like the DeadBirds and the 4.9ers.
One more year would mean signing him to another contract and he will want more than 1 year
This was conveyed to me by a raider player. Jabusto was lazy and should have worked harder but he received little push from Cable who never wanted him as a Raider QB anyway.
Mr. Miller, site your unnamed raider player.......you always act like you know everything about football......What team have you coached...........I think you like to talk just to get a rise out of people......if you cant name the player then dont make the statements.....
so, do you listen to the players or not? the players wanted to keep cable. but, then again, the players also lobbied for joe bugel. and bugel was an idiot. too much of a wuss to even hold a press conference after a last-second loss. so ... whatever. the next coach had better be either jackson or gruden. and it won't be gruden. so ... it's either jackson or we're fucked.

You read my mind Robert. I was thinking the same thing...how the players backed Joe Bugel. Didn't they also back Art Shell and Norv? Pretty much every coach we've had I think (except Callahan)
"Raiders Players Back Turner Dispite 4-12 record"......
""We don't want to switch to a new staff. We're so close to where we want to be..."
So now what? Every two years we get a new coach? Or if we miss the playoffs we get a new coach? Oh if he punches out an assistant we will fire him a year from then? Hue Jackson has been on "Stage" all season folks.....NEWS FLASH! When have you ever seen the OC do Soooooo many interviews? NEVER! It was a matter of Hue OR Cable and Al went with the guy with the Playbook. WHY THE FUCK CAN'T WE FUNCTION LIKE A NORMAL TEAM? WHY DOES THERE ALWAYS NEED TO BE DRAMA IN THIS FUCKIN TEAM? WTF!

Are you seriously defending JaBusto? You ARE fucking crazy. Perhaps what Cable saw was a player too high to get the job done? Perhaps he saw a player that could not man up and do what a professional player is expected to do? Perhaps he realized JaBusto did not give a shit about football once he was paid. When your third string QB makes a point to say to the media how surprised he was to see JaBusto arrive early before practice, that says plenty for me.
Of course didn't Cable and the offensive coaches also "dumb down" the play book for JaBusto and they even cut the field in half for him as far as reads. Please. This guy was built like a brick shit house and went down with ankle tackles. JaBusto is a waste and THE biggest bust to ever be drafted. This the fault of Al and JaBusto. No one else. You want me to give it a rest because it disproves your piss poor arguments.
Yes the quiefs did get new OC and DC coaches and improved. But they also have been having solid drafts for the last few years, a GM, and a non-meddling owner. They did not get great over night. They only got better. My "shitty" excuses are nothing compared to your shitty arguments.
Yes he will get a two year extension. But when has that ever stopped an owner from firing a HC before a contract is up? Even more so when that owner is Al Davis. If you are still not sure the answer to that question. Ask Shanarat and Kiffin.
Ah yes. your "unnamed RAIDER player" that you say you know. So should Cable have held his hand when he was to drunk from the "sizurp" to attend meetings? Or should he have wiped his chin as JaBusto finished off his 12 cheeseburger? JaBusto is a grown man. If he is unable to find his balls and acted like one. Then why should Cable find them for him?

He has no player. He is only here to get validation from strangers about his supposed "football knowledge" to boost his small sad ego. The fact is this guy does not say anything that a few nights watching Inside The NFL couldn't teach you. Honestly. Has this guy ever said anything enlightening? Or anything that hasn't been said time and time again here? He walked into a well established RAIDER forum and thought he would dispense knowledge that would some how make him "king of the boards". What he found was plenty of knowledgeable RAIDER fans who had little time for his bullshit. Perhaps his wife doesn't let him talk very much at home and this is his only way to feel superior. Or perhaps he is a failed athlete trying to recapture his glory days. Let me guess Millernation. Did you once score four touchdowns in a single game?

Since I don't watch Inside the NFL, I guess Showtime should call me and hire me on the cheap. Thanks though for the Dr. Phil analysis. I never scored 4 touchdowns in a single game but I came very close and had teammates who did.
I did say at the beginning of the season that Louis Murphy is not a #1 NFL wideout. Wasn't that enlightening because it sure turned out to be true. I guess its cool to put your opinions on the board unless it doesn't agree with the certain members. True, anyone posting on this board could be full of bullsh!t but could also be credible. But Miller, you have to at least agree that...if it isn't someone that can, as Lechler said, "handle the whole Al situation" it will be a disaster again. That's why I say surely he has some big-name coach that can do it. I'm afraid if it's Jackson it will be bad...another fucking puppet :( I do agree that there are peeps that need to go...front office all the way down. But if he fired Cable...for Jackson...yeesh.
I'm holding on to the glimmer of hope it's Cowher or Gruden....before I get too pissed...
I don't see Al Davis hiring anyone other than Hue Jackson for head coach. The 49ers ask for permission to interview Jackson, and within hours Cable is notified that they won't extend his contract. Why else would they act so fast unless it was because they didn't want to lose Jackson?
Hue Jackson wants to be a head coach, and if another team makes him the offer and the Raiders don't, he wouldn't stick around to be offensive coordinator. As soon as I heard Hue Jackson's first speech at the Raiders podium in front of the media, it became obvious to me that Al brought him in as a successor to Cable. It was just a matter of time. This was probably Al's plan all along. I don't think Cable ever had a chance to coach here beyond this point. Al had a year to look at Jackson and make sure that he would make a good head coach.
I'll bet that Al has already spoken with Jackson and made him the offer. They'll just hold off on the official press conference until whatever day Al decides is the right time to make the announcement. On the other hand, who was it....Kiffin....or Gruden....who said that he doesn't remember Al ever actually offering him the job verbally? He never actually put it in words. I think it was Gruden.
Has anyone heard if there is a meeting time scheduled for Jackson to meet with the 49ers? I'm wondering if that is still in the works. What if Hue wants to hear more than one offer? He's sitting in a position of power now. I wonder if he'll use any leverage to get the best contract he can moneywise? He might tell Al he wants to hear other offers, and force Al to make him a sweet offer in order to stay. What do you guys think?
UPDATE:
Hue Jackson is interviewing for the 49ers head coaching job today, per this article I just ran across:

Wtf does everyone think Harbaugh will be such a grand coach in the NFL anyway??? He made Stanford respectable....woohoo big fucking deal??!! He's had Luck (who is a stud).

...Harbaugh will be a great molder of our quarterback plans for years to come.
So you think Harbaugh will be the Raiders next head coach? I heard on the radio today that Harbaugh was offered 5.5 million a year to coach college, and that he's asking a min. of 7 mil/year to coach in the pros. You think Al will be willing to pay a coach $7,000,000 a year when he's never paid more than $2,000,000?
R U people fucking insane? 2-8 outside the division. Pulling our starting QB after 6 quarters...

Curly-Joe must go
That was Hue Jackson's idea to pull Campbell after 6 quarters, not Cable's. Naturally Cable had to make the final decision, but it was Hue Jackson's recommendation. He approached Cable with it. Cable just approved and pulled the trigger on it. From what I've read.
Cable and Jackson both talked about it in this video...the Game Two (Rams) postgame press conference:

Not a bad idea on McDaniels there Tokai. I know around the league he is probably viewed as toxic. But Al has always been about giving guys a 2nd chance.
McDaniels never had a great defense this year in Denver with key players suffering injuries.
But i know your being sarcastic about McDaniels. But he's only a fallback intriguing option if Hue Jackson goes to San Francisco or somewhere else.
Bad move any way you slice it. If Jackson is kept perhaps it salvages something.
As far a Lechler being a "second class citizen" or someone "rarely gets hit". What kind of shit is that? You don't think he speaks for the team? Then why did have they voted him a captain so many times? Obviously the team respects him. But some here(millernation, perhaps it is his mystery Raider he says he knows) think they know better about the pulse of the team than the guy who is on it. Really? Only time will tell. But I will take the word of the guy on the team over fans who are not privy to locker room talk.
As for Nnamdi echoing these sentiments. He has before.

Now why after saying what he says here and after the improved season we had this year, would he suddenly change his mind? Now I won't pretend to know what Nnamdi is thinking at this moment(I will leave that up to others). But I think history shows that he believes in Cable. To think that Cables leaving will not be a factor in his resigning is folly.
In the end I hope I am proved wrong. I hope who ever takes over this team takes not only to the playoffs but to our fourth Super Bowl trophy. And believe me I will stand up and proudly say I was wrong. But as history has show with this organization in the last seven years. I don't think I will have to much to worry about.
We will lose out on this deal no matter who we get..........the players wanted Cable, now they will be unhappy.........if and when there is football again they won't forget this.............unhappy employees are not good for business..........no matter what type of job it is...............! They will leave............most of them can and it won't be any sweat off my sack...............but the good ones will set this team back by leaving for other teams via free agency............................ and it will set this team back...................AGAIN!
He was also good with bringing in Rob Ryan as coach :o. The interview was also before this season when the raiders didn't win a winnable division. Nnamdi also said Cable returning would held JaBusto. It didn't. Nnamdi is also not T.O. who will speak his mind. He will always say the right thing. Good he didn't dump on Cable since Cable came back. Did the offense get better because of Cable or Jackson?
Regarding Al Davis. All his coaches have had to live with that the winners and the losers. When U take that job, you go in knowing you have to be successful under Al's rules. How it it Cable's fault. I've documented that multiple times. But this question is mute, Cable is gone.
By the way, all this worry about free agent signings are bogus. Nothing will happen until there is a new CBA
You may call me wrong, but cable is GONE :D
This was his do or die year and he didn't do. The raiders should have won the division and they didn't. It fail on Cable.
I just can't agree with you raidersully on Cable doing a 'pretty good darn' job. It was more like a borderline pass job.
Too only win 3 more games after getting rid of Russell and having one of the best draft classes in years is him underachieving.
Too bring Cable back next season would of been like Jerry Jones bringing back Wade Phillips this season. Wade was always seen as a players coach, but he lost games cause of penalties and team discipline.
Also i'm pretty sure Cable has never had a winning record at any HC gigs. I want to get a young up and comer (HUE) who's ceiling is the Superbowl and not some mediocre 8-8 season.
My opinion, for what it's worth;Thats what I think.....Hue has NEVER been on the Al Davis hot seat for one and he will be getting a steady ration of it every day without Cable there to take the hits.....Hue has NO clue as to what is about to happen....Look, Al saves money by giving Hue the "meager" 2.5 mil. for a year and not having to hire a OC saves at least 700K.....Al is looking for a lockout as he has setup his free agents for it.......Look who is due.....EVERYONE! This guy is banking on it and will keep his money close until the very end......This fuckin guy KILLS this team....Just when you think we are out of the hole......BOOYAH...Back in the hole suckers.......Our record will suffer next season just because Hue will be like a one leg man in an ass kicking contest..... :-\
Cable - decent guy, decent coach, but not a Head Coach - Oscar, no I don't think he'll get ANY offers as HC in the NFL. My guess he'll go back to being an OL coach and do pretty well.
Jackson - enthused the offense, challenged the players, took them out of their comfort zone and made a huge improvement where many others have failed.
My preference - Jackson stays as OC and a respected HC is brought in to continue the improvement and start winning the division we should have taken this year. (2-8 non-division is inexcusable with the schedule we had)
My prediction - Jackson gets the HC job, the offense goes backward and the rest of the team follows.
The pain starts anew............
Oh yeah - a belated Happy New Year :-\
People keep mentioning that they'd like to see Gruden come back to Oakland, but if he recently turned down $7 million to coach the Dolphins, in Florida where his family lives....you know it would take more than $7 Mil to coax him back to Oakland....unless he really LOVES the Raider Nation and loves to wear black. Do you think Al would pay more than $7 Mil?

Well the way i look at it with Chucky = $7 Million a season or Harburgh = $8 Million a season.
How can you justify the 2 contracts of Lechler and Janokowski @ 4million a piece when each player is only on the field at the most 12.5% of the time.
*12.5% is formulated by 100% divided by 8 (4downs on Offense + 4 Downs on Defense)
So to spend that 8 Million on 2 positions when we could spend 8 million a year on a ELITE coach who would have a way more beneficial affect on 53 other men. The logic baffles me.
<MY COMMENTS ABOVE in no way endorse that Lechler and Janikowski ain't assets to this team.. they're the best at there positions, I'm just annoyed that when push comes to shove Al Davis wants to spend 8 million on salsa dip, But isn't willing to spend 8 million on corn chips)

Kickers on the field 12.5% of the time...."at most"? Do we always play a minimum of 4 plays offense and 4 plays defense per each kick?
The way I figure it, theoretically, Jano could be on the field 66% of the time.
Play #1: Opponent kicks to Raiders, Jacoby Ford runs back for a TD.
Play #2: Jano kicks extra point
Play #3: Jano kicks off to opponent
Repeat
Jano on field for 2 out of 3 plays. So 12.5% can't be "at most".

Play #1: Opponent kicks to Raiders, Jacoby Ford runs back for a TD.
Play #2: Jano kicks extra point
Play #3: Jano kicks off to opponent
Repeat
Jano on field for 2 out of 3 plays. So 12.5% can't be "at most".
LOL.... What a dream world you live in Randy!!!
Plus don't forget that Lechler needs to hold the ball on extra points & field goals for Jano.
I just read that the Niners may have Gruden in to offer him the HC gig. Now..I'm on the East side but I can't even imagine how it would go over if this were to go through. Holy shit.....
that would suck!I just read that the Niners may have Gruden in to offer him the HC gig. Now..I'm on the East side but I can't even imagine how it would go over if this were to go through. Holy shit.....
Where did you read that? I just did a Google search and nothing came up.
Now U R calling Al Davis a retard. Your man-love for Cable is embarrassing. Funny how i was accused of being a chefs plant when I started here but others are listening to the chefs podcast :DSo tell us all who would be a really great coach MILLER, because you are the all knowing football guru!
The only team podcast I listen 2 is Raider Greg. Fuck the Honchos and their podcasts. We lost to the ARIZONA CARDINALS, the 4.9ers. Glad we didn't play the Panthers. 8-8 on a schedule where only 3 teams made the playoffs on our schedule and the only playoff team we beat finished under 500. In the biggest game of the year(against the Jags) we give 31 second half points after having a 10 point halftime lead.
Cable got what he wanted after last year. Jamarcus gone, Cable will never gate another NFL coaching give just like Calahan and many other 1st time HC's for the raiders.
U want to see a HC that turned his team around, look to Tampa Bay

And your coach better go at least 10-6 and take us to the playoffs! And no wasted challenges and no bad decisions! I think you should do us all a favor and coach the team yourself! :o :o :o :o :o :o
harbaugh to the 49ers.......here comes jackson

Working on the 360 this weekend. Fellow worker just game me his red ringing 360 so I could salvage the DVd drive. I haven't bought that POS since Madden 1998 for the saturn. Live and die with the NFL 2k series. Tiburon is the laziest developer in america. They have become the new 989. You like Cable and the Madden series. That clears up a lot for me 8)
I will take the job as long Al doesn't pay me minimum wage :P
Chilly would be a better HC than Cable for one.
How did he chock. They went to overtime. Farve threw interceptions and fumbles.
AGREED........Preach on!How did he chock. They went to overtime. Farve threw interceptions and fumbles.
Jesus. I hope you do know something about football. Because you can't spell for shit.
How did Childress choke? By not being able to repeat what happened before with what was essentially the same team. He may not have cost them the NFC Championship game. But he did not help either. When the team loses it fall at the feet of the HC right? I mean that is what you are saying about Cable is it not?
As I pointed out before when it comes to Childress. He took his team to the playoffs 3 out of the 5 years he coached. Norv has taken the chargless 3 out for the 4 years he has coached there. Would you say Norv is a great HC? Would Norv also be a great replacement for Cable? I think not. Also. Tell me the teams that are beating down his door. I mean even Wade Phillips has a new job. Meanwhile Childress is sitting at home. Childress, like Norv, was give a great team and did little with it. He is a horrible coach and is not coming to Oakland. Any other choices?
Oh and Callahan is a coach in the NFL. He is the assistant coach of the NY Jets. Has since 2008. Cable will have no problem finding a new coaching job.
Hue has no leverage now that SF hired the golden boy. I'm not sure what Al is waiting for...just go ahead and name Hue HC. Anyone else hear the rumour that Josh McDaniels turn down the opportunity to interview with Al? I guess I'm not surprised...who would want the job.....well besides me :-)Agreed..............................what the HELL is he waiting on? I have no idea
Yeah.. Childress can't choke when Favre threw interception in OT.
In saying that Childress is a bad idea for this organization... Having 53 men who play like Outlaws.. You need a coach who is a "players coach" & not a "authoritarian"
Cable is a 'players coach' but in my opinion he can only take us so far.
I hope the 4.1 earthquake in the bay area wakes up Al and gets this coaching search/decision moving....
Serious note..hope all the bay area members are ok.

I KNEW I felt an earthquake a while ago. I went online and couldn't find any mention of one. I was starting to think that maybe some HUGE person had been walking down the hallway of my condo complex or something.

You live in a Condo???
Nmm... always thought you being a computer nerd, that hackers live in a bomb bunker or something. 2 Apple IMACS or PROMACs with multiple screens & Redbull cans everywhere with dark lighting and maybe a Matrix poster hanging from the wall.
Oh that's right,... you're married these days. CONDO AWAY BROTHER!!!

No....No iMacs or ProMacs.....just one little MacBook Pro laptop on my dining room table. No Redbulls. No Matrix poster. You did get the dim lighting right though. Oh, and I don't know anything about hacking. :-[
I've been pondering the Cable firing & have justified in my head why it's also a good idea.
W1- Titans finished (6-10)
W3- Arizona finished (5-11)
W4- Houston finished (5-11)
W6- San Francisco finished (6-10)
W11- Pittsburgh finished (12-4)
W12- Miami finished (7-9)
W14- Jacksonville finished (8-8)
W16- Indianapolis finished (10-6)
Out of our 8 losses this season. only 2 teams had better records then us! (PIT & IND)... To me that's equivalent to leaving 6 potential wins on the table.

"...Rob Ryan, who was with the Raiders from 2004-08, could be a candidate to potentially replace Raiders defensive coordinator John Marshall, with the added title of assistant head coach."
If he doesn't get hired as a head coach somewhere. If he did become the Raiders' defensive coordinator, Al would have another guy ready to jump into the head coach position if Hue Jackson doesn't pan out for whatever reason.

Why dont we just go and get back Shell and Walsh while we are at it! ryan again? oh shit. i guess the defense improved too much under marshall, and al wants to go back to shitty prevent defenses and the worst run defense in the league.
al hasn't had a defensive head coach since john madden, so i doubt ryan would be in line for that job.
i'm sick of this shit.
I was reading this article just now:Dumb FUCKING idea if that is the case.....................................he sucks.......................................................!
http://www.ibabuzz.com/oaklandraiders/2011/01/10/jackson-wasnt-interview-subject/
Check this out:
"This is strictly speculation, but keep the name Rob Ryan in mind. His status is tenuous at best in Cleveland with Eric Mangini out, he’s interviewed for the job before with Davis and made sure not to burn any bridges when he left after his contract expired.
Although Ryan’s defenses weren’t particularly successful, players on both sides of the ball loved him. And while that may not be a big criteria for Davis, it could go a long way toward making a lot of players who were upset over Cable’s departure feel better about a change.
Like Nnamdi Asomugha, for instance."
A COUPLE THINGS - PURE SPECUALTION AND RUMORS..COME ON YOU KNOW WE DON'T WHAT THE FUCK OLD MAN AL IS DOING UNTIL HE DOES IT. ROB FUCKING RYAN IS PURE SPECULATION, I HATE THAT SHIT JUST MORE STUFF TO FIRE US UP. WHAT PISSES ME OFF IS THAT THE PLAYERS ALSO "LOVED" HIM A LA TOM CABLE. FUCK THAT. ROB RYAN'S DEFENSE WAS GARBAGE. NO BLITZING, PREVENT D, MAN COVERAGE, BLAH. FUCK OFF. I DON'T GIVE A FUCK IF THE PLAYERS LOVE THEIR COACH, I WANT TO FUCKING WIN FOOTBALL GAMES MOTHERFUCKERS!!!
When did players loving a coach become the best thing? Players didn't loveUh, living here in Texas I can assure you that most of the players loved LANDRY

I was going to call in the boneline with this but figured I would post it here and let the board fly...
As I was watching that Chiefs/Ravens game this past Sunday and watching the pathetic performance by KC, the letting go of Cable made more and more sense.
WE SHOULD HAVE WON THE AFC WEST WITHOUT ONE SHRED OF A DOUBT
That falls on the HC. Would we have beat Baltimore? Perhaps. I'll tell you what though, in the Coliseum, there is no way our guys lay down like the Queefs did at Arrowhead for that midget Ray Rice and goofy-ass Flacco.
C'mon man!!!!
Let me play devil's advocate... Players on both sides of the ball loved him. Considering the number of free agents, could Rob be the one coach that players will buy into? He's a straight shooter and no BS type of guy. If this weighted heavily in Nnamdi returning? Sure players will play for whatever coach if you have to (under contract) but many of ours have a choice....would Rob returning at some capacity weigh in favour of returning?

If all the good ones we have who helped us win this year leave and cite that as the reason then it was a really dumb decision, players that is!I was going to call in the boneline with this but figured I would post it here and let the board fly...

People don't use rational thought when emotional. When Curly-Joe was let go, some RNP'ers got emotional and didn't use rational thought. More will see, in the next 2 weeks, letting Curly-Joe go was the right thing to do. He would have wanted more than a 1 year contract and started doing what he wanted instead of what Al wanted
...Rob would install a game plan which the players were excited about to only have Al Davis scrap it the day before the game. Is it Rob's D or Al Davis's D that is garbage?

hahaha nice millerfuck grown man? your the one acting like a school boy bitch trying to act like a fucking coach when you dont have a clue! i guarantee you would never say any of this to my face so dont act hardcore on the internet dumbfuck
Didn't I say HC job? Callahan will never get another and neither will Curly-Joe.I am not sure what you said. In fact I am not sure you know what you were saying.
As far as spelling, I don't see you mentioning Raider Greg's spelling. It's a fucking message board. Who gives a shit about spelling.Well if you are wanting to engage in a debate on the internet, then I think spelling is very important. That way the other person know what you are talking about. That is after all how conversation work. But since this paints you in a bad light I see why you would not give a shit.
You saying Childress is a horrible coach doesn't make it a fact. Just one slapnutz opinion. You saying he is good coach does not make it fact either. Nor that you think he is better than Cable or Norv. See it goes both ways. The difference is, I know my opinion is just that, opinion. You think what you say is gospel, and it is not.
I never said Childress was a great coach, just a better option than Curly-Joe. RSully, you seem to take the opposite persons point to the extreme to make your point and your conclusions as fact. not very convincingI never said Childress was a great coach either. Nor did I say, you said he was a great coach. What I did say was this.
When did players loving a coach become the best thing? Players didn't love

Chuck Knoll

U R welcome. How many players was I suppose to name? 15, 20. It was a sample. But I concede. Once again you are correct. I admit it. I have never played football, don't know 1 thing about football, don't know any NFL players, never played video football, never played futbol, know nothing about pigskins nor pigs for that matter. Never have eaten pork, never even stepped on a grass. Never watched a football game, Never knew a football wasn't round, Never played paper football, never caught a pass, never caught a cold,Wow. Talk about taking what people say to the extreme to prove your point. It seems you are accusing others of the very thing you do. So now you know nothing and are a hypocrite. What a great combination.
I know NOTHING HellRaider and you found me out. I am a fraud, all the things I have posted that have come true was just a lucky shot in the dark. What are these things you 'predicted' exactly?
Hell, my prediction before the playoffs last weekend that the Seahawks would beat the Saints when everyone else picked the saints was just pissing in the wind. My prediction after the 4th week of college football that a team with a strong, quick athletic line like LSU or Auburn would be able to handle the Oregon offense was also just dipshit luck. And of course you have proof of these supposed 'prediction' right? I see. We are to just take your word for it. Sure, that will happen. Saying things after the fact does not count.
I'm a no-nothing(except that OR84 is a fatazz). Matter of fact, I don't even like the raiders, I like the PANTHERS(Greatest football team ever and Tim Tebow is already better then Ken Stabler ever will be). There, no please stop your water boarding. I admit the truth. Now U can put on the pinhead mask and dance a texas 2 step to a slayer groove knowing you have been right all along about meStill taking others arguments to the extreme to prove your point I see.
Except for
Louis Murphy
The raider receiving Corp
Curly-Joe being fired
etc...
But to HELL with the facts raider, you are the shiznit
And of course you have proof of these supposed 'prediction' right? I see. We are to just take your word for it. Sure, that will happen. Saying things after the fact does not count.
The only person who truly knows who is the best coach for the Raiders is Al Davis.LOL!!!!...Like when Al "truly knew" that Jamarcus was the best QB for the Raiders...or when AL "truly knew" that Darrius Heyward-Bust was the best WR for the Raiders...
I bow down to you Sully. You have both the typing prowess and intellect I could never begin to touch. I guess I better invest in that Mavis Beacon program to improve my typing and it will give me more football knowledge. Your objective, wait, you've had your thongs in a bunch ever since I started posting. You're not objective. You sir are a fraud. You are the Glen Beck of the boards. Pretending to be the voice of wisdom when you in truth are a professional playa-hater.How am I the hater exactly? Because I see through your bullshit and don't feed your ego? You are free to express your opinion as am I. I have no problem with the things you say from a discussion stand point. What I dislike is your feeling that what you say is gospel and if others disagree they are below you for it. As if your knowledge is some how better than others when it comes to the goings on in Oakland or in football in general. Fact is you come here for validation for your opinions because you need your ego fed. But when that fails you play the victim role as if all that has been said to you from the beginning of your time here is some how unfound.
You tell others they are wrong only because U believe U are right. You disguise your hate with your opinionated facts. See, I don't dislike you RaiderSully, I could give a rats azz about you one way or another. Nor do I need to obsess about proving you wrong.I don't tell others they are wrong. I simply counter their argument with mine. Welcome to debating. I have no illusions of changing minds here. I just enjoy a place where I can speak my mind about the comings and goings of the Oakland Raiders. Nothing more. I harbor no hard feelings.
The only person who truly knows who is the best coach for the Raiders is Al Davis. He determined Curly-Joe wasn't the one. Now you may not agree with it, you may not like it, you may have limp-dick for a week about it but for all your blah, blah, blah, Curly-Joe is gone.Really Al Davis knows? Like he knew JaBusto would be a great NFL QB? Like he knew DHB was a number one pick? While Al's legacy proves he knows much about football. Recent history has proven his knowledge is lacking. Really even Al does not know, as he is unable to tell the future. Fact is, it is his opinion that Cable was no longer needed. An opinion I and other RAIDER fans must live with. But not one I have to keep quiet about.
We can go back and forth over hypothetical or abstract situation but you are a raider fan and Curly-Joe is no longer your coach. All your so-called logic and bullshit mean nothing. The next time the raiders take the field, you will be rooting for them. I said early in the season, during the season and after that Curly-Joe needs to go and he is gone. I don't let him go and since HELLRAIDER says I have no knowledge of football, it must have been ignorance. But call me a broken clock.
As far as crying :'( :'( :'(. I'm not the one crying about Curly-Joe being shown the door. Think about it
And of course you have proof of these supposed 'prediction' right? I see. We are to just take your word for it. Sure, that will happen. Saying things after the fact does not count.

I never said that you know nothing about football, you just come across like a guy who knows everything about everything. Its really quite a putoff! But hey, you dont care.......thats why you will respond ...... I really dont care about debating with you.....what I would like is to have really good discussion about who will be the next coach and how we will keep these free agents who in my mind will certainly leave....Could we keep the forum about the Raiders ......that is in fact why we are here?Uh, living here in Texas I can assure you that most of the players loved LANDRY

Yeah, when I saw that point spread (wasn't it Saints favored by 11?) I thought to myself that it would probably be a good bet to take the Seahawks plus the 11. I based this on my experience in Qwest when the Raiders played there on Monday night in 2006. It was SO noisy with crowd noise....I remember wondering how ANY visiting team could win there. You can't appreciate how loud it really is from TV clips. The Raiders had so many false starts, looked confused, etc. Yeah, the '06 Raiders weren't quite the team that the defending Superbowl Saints were this year, but still.....that stadium was so noisy....it was pretty impressive. Once you give the Seahawks any sort of momentum, the fans get even louder and things can go bad in a hurry.
So when did we "let Marshall go"?Marshall is still on board...I think. But the speculation was Rob Ryan for head coach.
I don't remember seeing that.

Marshall isn't listed in the "Transactions" section on Raiders.com:

and he's still listed in the coaching section:
http://www.raiders.com/team/coaches.html
but you know how up to date their website can be :-\
Call me crazy but I'm not opposed to Rob being the next HC.3) Al's dementia has led him to believe that Rob Ryan is acutally Rex Ryan.
1)He has a good working relationship with the boss (not an easy task). He was fired by "Lance" and re hired by the boss..lol
2)Players at the time (both sides of the ball) lobbied for him to get the HC.
3)See 1 and 2 because I've just run out of reasons....maybe I am crazy.

The next coach as lance Kiffin!hahaLMAO! I bet he introduces him(rob) as Rex.Call me crazy but I'm not opposed to Rob being the next HC.3) Al's dementia has led him to believe that Rob Ryan is acutally Rex Ryan.
1)He has a good working relationship with the boss (not an easy task). He was fired by "Lance" and re hired by the boss..lol

This story is about Rob Ryan coming back but read the end...
http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b7WpB
Also, that useless terd Herrera denies...
http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b7WpD
My gut feeling? If Herrera is denying, Marshall's office is already cleaned out...
Raiders r currently the only team without a Head coach. Its not much of a shock that he didnt want to pay Cable 5 million bucks. Al's notorious for not wanting to pay his coaches big bucks. As long as the NFL has the revenue sharing program, every team is capable of spending big bucks. Thats how the Lions are able to operate even though they've had to pay top dollar for a top 5 pick in every draft for last 30 years.
Could Al Davis be having money troubles? He didn't want to pay Cable 5 million nor Nnamdi his salary next year. Have the raiders become the pittsburgh pirates?
I bet he introduces him as BUDDY RYAN! :DLMAO! I bet he introduces him(rob) as Rex.Call me crazy but I'm not opposed to Rob being the next HC.3) Al's dementia has led him to believe that Rob Ryan is acutally Rex Ryan.

...probably what's gonna happen...Hue Jackson HC, Josh McDaniels OC, Rob Ryan DC...
...or fuck it, you never know about Al, he could go SANJAY LAL for head coach ???

What a selling feature to prospective OC and DC's....
i personally like us stringing out the announcement of the HC.
At least wait til the superbowl concludes... there's a very good chance that Tomlin, McCarthy, Bellechick, Lovie or Rex could become available if one of the teams still left suffers a very embarrassing loss.
Also there's some great assistances on those teams.
IF it's going to be Hue... then he can wait.

I guess Cable won't be sitting up in the luxury box with Al Davis and Jim Otto :'(
Al spends tens of millions on free agents, then pinches pennies with his coaches. What's up with that?
I wonder if we'll be seeing an explanation with the overhead projector?
Seeing how Al has withheld money from 4 of his last 5 coaches makes for a great incentive for prospective new coaches, huh? I wonder if they can come up with something similar to a prenuptual agreement, that Al and the new coach can sign to prevent these things in case of another "breakup" later on.
What world are you living in that makes you think ANY of those coaches would ever consider coaching for the RAIDERS?
This is from a a Steve Corkran article about the Cable/Davis issue:
Midway through the season, Cable told Bay Area News Group that people "would be stunned if they knew what I'm being forced (by Davis) to do out here."
When told that people probably had a fair idea, Cable snapped: "(People) have no idea. It's going to come out soon, though." He added that he had not spoken with Davis since training camp, three months earlier.
It also goes on to say Cable was forced to use players he didn't want to play, and keep them on the roster. I'm starting to wonder why I keep rooting for this organization. Because Davis is obviously a horrible fucking person, regardless of whatever kinds of barriers he broke down decades ago. The guy is a true-blue asshole.
Well so far Oakland aint let us down. Dont know why any of yall are so suprised at all these stories comming out. Doesnt this crap happen every single offseason? Well of course AL is is tying to scew Cable out of money, When was the last coach besides maybe Art Shell that he hasnt tried. He is so greedy its not even funny. NONE of this is a suprise to me at all. We all knew after Cable got fired things were gonna fall apart and we were all right. We will not come close to a Championship until this man hits the floor, and to me thats just depressing.
I find my love for this team decreasing year after year..........let me say my love of the players does not....and well yes the history and everything else that comes along with it........but the fact that I truly dont think I will ever see a superbowl victory again in my lifetime is quite depressing...............! I have found the overall state of the game to be in turmoil................too many penalties........too many greedy athletes................they play a kids game for godsakes...................and the fact that before too long all tackling will be outlawed..............................and then to have to deal with an owner who clearly does not care about winning is disheartening..............................I HONEST TO GOD GET MORE EXCITED ABOUT WATCHING MY BELOVED SPORT OF HOCKEY AND MY MONTREAL CANADIENS THAN WATCHING RAIDER FOOTBALL BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT FROM KOOKY OLD AL.........................! I have said enough........im depressed................................................. :'( :'( :'(Yeah Al should just coach the team himself, cause no one will ever be good enough, be able to finish what they started, or get along with his Ole FART ASSSSSSSSS!....It will save him mad money and then he can fire himself!.....I with you HellRaider, Pro football in the near future is gonna be for PUSSSSSIIIIES!.... :'(
Adam Schefter and Jay Glazer reporting Hue Jackson has been named HC. Not a surprise....what will be interesting is who will be named OC and DC. They are also reporting that a possible OC candidate could be Al Saunders. Is he still in football? We should be thankful that he wasn't running a bed an breakfast these past few years....lolAnd yet another whipping boy, he better save some $ so he will have it for lawyer fees whenever he gets fired in the next 2-3 years.............................................what a fucking joke............... ???
I know a lot of you are life long fans but seriously STFU with the Al Davis bashing.
If you don't like it, then leave.
This is not some Business man like Paul Allen running the team. This is Al Motherfucking Davis. The godfather of football. He has every right to run his team into the ground (but i don't believe he is)
Cable was a bum... plain and simple. he screwed up by missing out on OTA days and should be punished accordingly.
I hear the Chargers bandwagon is taking nominations!!!
The funny thing is that us as Raider fans go through this kinda shit almost every fucking offseason. We ALWAYS freak out about what free agents might walk, we complain about the free agents Al brings in, Raider Greg threatens to not renew his season tickets ;), we fight about the coaching staff, we always say "FUCK AL", but then he throws massive $$$$$$$$ at someone we all want then we say Als not afraid to pay his guys he wants, and then the draft.
As we get closer to the draft, all the conversations go like this, "We should draft so and so" and then someone replies like this "What? We don't need so and so, Did you actually watch any Raider games last year? If you know anything about football you would know that we need to draft this kid out of (insert college name here)"
And what's even funnier about all the shit we bicker about is, is the fact that I LOVE IT!!!! Go Raiders! Go ahead HELLRAIDER, bash Al all you want! Its all good! We all know when the Raiders return to glory that we are all gonna be kissing Al's ass again! I fucking love it!!! :D :D
You have got to be kidding.....?....what the hell has this guy done since 1983 ...............and im being honest.....and I dont need someone to question my fanhood.....he has run off the best coach this team had since Flores, being Gruden ...........and there is no relief of a great coach in sight ever again in my mind.............. ??? he has not shown the ability to make this once great franchise great again.....and i would like to know what sign of bringing this team to a winning formula again would be evident after he has most likely pissed off every great player who is a free agent this offseason!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Al has a tendancy of producing great young football minds, losing Gruden was a shame... But it was bound to happen.
The way I see it is these young fresh minds looking to break into the HC land will always bite at the opportunity to work with the worlds most respected football mind. We've had Shannahan & Chucky who were holding clipboards in there diapers & then went on to win superbowls... The way that I see it is sometimes the younger pupils think they've outdone there zen master and look to go on it by there own.
There's a reason i love the raiders and it revolves around Al's Philosiphy... We play a running game with vertical passing (& none of this QB stat padding WC offense... we play strictly man to man which in my eyes in the pentultimate football battle one athlete vs another & I love the Raiders because of the offseason theatrics (the good and the bad)
All i'm saying is if you have not figured out how this ship is run by now and your not liking the Raiders then the Steeler, Patriot, Niner or Cheesehead Nation will always accept you with open arms... But FUCK!!! Anyone who wants to whinge about Al Davis is probably a person who smokes weed for the taste but doesn't like to get fucking high in the process.
I will forever be mounted on Al Davis jockstrap and if you don't like it then you can suck mine and AD dicks
Well hopefully we do get Saunders now after hiring Hue, I remember Saunders from when he was here with the Cheifs in my hometown under Dick Vermil and that explosive offense at that time, and he loves the run game. Hopefully he can bring the same to us, but we gotta get him here. Im not that even worried about he OC tho. Does anyone have the list of DC's that are available?? I havent heard of one good person available. What is the point of a defensive coordinator.......................? If Al does not like the gameplan he will change it...........................................it goes like this......................no blitzing.................all man-all the time...................................now run that over and over and over again!
What time was the anouncement suppose to be made today?I believe 1pm pacific time. Al will be there with his overhead projector and it will be aired on comcast (which i don't have) and CSN-CA. If anyone is able to post a link (Randy) that would be great.
I know a lot of you are life long fans but seriously STFU with the Al Davis bashing.Like in any organization you somtimes may not agree with the decisions managment make. No one is jumping ship, some of us are expressing our displeasure with some of the moves that are being made. Maybe it's that I don't understand the moves that are being made but as a fan I want better, I expect better...especially when the owner preaches he wants the have the "finest organization", "finest coaches" and "finest players". I want to boast that we have the finest of all of these. I think by Al keeping Hue and promoting him to HC is a better move then brining yet someone else new in and keeps the ship somewhat stable.
If you don't like it, then leave.

Y do Raiders head coaches complain about Al Davis calling the shots. They know when they get hired what the deal is. Cable was there for the Lane Kiffen madness. He know what raider head coaches have to go through. You have the choice not to be a raider head coach. Don't bitch about it afterwards. If he didn't talk to Davis since training camp, how in the hell did Davis tell him what players to play? Did he get a Powerpoint file(or presentations from the old WordPerfect Suite) laid at his doorstep on a 5.25 floppy disc?
Does not your inside "MAN" tell you all that is Raiders??? Hey Miller"lite", Just because its the way Al works does not make it a good thing bro........Al Davis has fucked every coach for the past 10 seasons for Loss after Loss.......He had one of his Snakes like good old John Herrera tell Cable what Al wanted or even sent letters ( Al is big on letters) to tell Cable who to keep and who to play.....However you slice it, its FUCKED up for the team and for the fans. This old fuck needs to do a face plant in his bowl of Grits and let someone else take this team......
Does anyone have the list of DC's that are available?? I haven't heard of one good person available.

i'm watching the press conference ... what's up with al's right hand? he doesn't move the fingers. two are constantly straight, and the others are bent. some sort of palsy? also, he doesn't move his left arm at all.

I noticed it when we saw him a year or two ago, but they look like they're gotten worse. When we were in Nashville for the season opener this year and we saw Al entering the Raiders hotel, I remember seeing his fingers and thinking, "wow...Al's hands look BAD!".

If he doesn't and you guarantee is bogus will you leave the Raidernation forever? Or is your guarantee just a bunch of Raider Greg BUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLlllshitSuck my BALLSACK Miller"LITE"......Or perhaps you should just leave this forum forever? OR you can just eat some of Raider Greg's BBBBOOOOWWWLLLSHIT?

I am all for people to speak their minds and complain if need be but when we have success...SHUT YOUR FUCKING TRAPS. Cuz all you idiots did was bitch about how we'll get torched by Rivers or blasted by KC, etc etc. I could go on and on. Every game RNPers post how we are going to get killed but then bask in victory.

What is with U. I like the way you say bullshit on the podcast and put it in my post. U should be uniting RaiderNation not dividing them. Also be careful. Skully is going to call U gay for your ballsack comment(unless he just likes to single me out which means he has no ballsack of his own) which I will decline to suck. Although some here would like for me too be, I'm not gay.
Anyway, keep doing what you do and putting out fires.
I am just pointing out the obvious here....Look at the teams around the league.....How many are run my an 81 year old man? I mean Dude......The guy was paranoid years ago and it is obvious he needs help......Were you proud of our great owner on TV? Did he demonstrait the wisdom and knowledge of the great owner of the Raiders? OR did he look like a slightly confused old man holding on to his lifes work that has been slipping through his fingers for the past 8 years? You be the judge but I have great respect for what he did but not so much for what he has shown us as a leader, owner, boss and NFL legend these past 8 seasons. He has put a stain on his greatness and this is sad to see.No doubt. I am sick of all these fucking doomsday purveyors on this site. You'd think we were the fucking Carolina Panthers. Jackson basically promised the Raider Nation playoffs and superbowl appearences. He might be able to do it with this current Raider team, but if the free agents don't return then the coaching position will be the revolving door that it has been. This is my biggest fear...........................I think some of the guys will want to come back...............Nnamdi,Seymour, Miller and Bush are must haves........................................period! :'(

It's a forum...so I'll say what I want. There's nothing wrong with wanting and expecting the best. I watched two press conferences. 1) Being the introduction of Hue Jackson and Al Davis giving the state of affairs. Al answered all the tough questions, he was forthright and took responsibility for some of the past failures (coaches, players etc..). Both Hue and Al were upbeat and gave a positive outlook for the future and was committed to putting a better product on the field. As a fan I loved it. How could you not?I in no way shape or form think Al Davis ever embarrasses himself.. Did you see when Kwakami asked him that raider hating question about the revolving door for head coaches at Alamaeda? he never blamed the coaches but took full responsibility for saying that he didn't give the coaches enough good players to win.
I just don't think anyone should be embarrassed about Al Davis, if you want your regular cut of the mill CEO who turns up 9-5 and takes home a pay cheque then a team like Seattle would be better suited to you. But if you want one of those fun and theatrical CEO'S like at Google who have comfy couches, yoga classes in the middle of the floor and still blow out of the water in terms of sales and quarterly
In all honesty.. The media will continue to ask Questions at these press conferences that other GM's wouldn't answer.. I respect and love Al Davis when he tells the truth and nothing but the Truth! Al is a great man!

2)Al Davis throwing Cable under the bus. Why do that? What purpose did that serve? Is this what is going to happen in the future for all coaches who are let go? Do you think that's going to entice future coaches to want to work for him? I don't see that as vehicle to attract strongest and brightest coaches, coordinators etc...This is what I thought was embarrassing.
We officially have our OC....Seems like a good hire to me..........................we gotta bring back the boys from last year..............I cannot stress this enough!

Very true, He's benefieted from being on woeful Defenses between 2002-2009!!! Quarterbacks like Kerry Collins, Andrew Walter, Aaron Brooks & Jamarcus Russell being Quarterbacks that are notorious for 3rd & out & Drive Killers.
The reason why Shane Lechler and Andy Lee were constant probowlers is they had so many ingame practice
He might even worth be cutting... Least Jason Campbell is compotent to get us into Field Goal and Redzone action!

Ok...I can see you not liking his comments or feelings towards yet another fucking coach. But to question Lechler's ability is just assinine. Shane is probably right behind guy (if he hasn't passed him) as the greatest punter....ever....period....end of story.

Yes greatest ever...
But do we need him? You don't see the correlation that bad quarterbacks = punters looking like the star of the show.
Our Offense is going to be crazy good... Shane Lechler has the easiest job in Hawaii... In those probowl games the punters might only kick the ball 1 or 2 times cause the teams are being led down the field by your Mannings, Brees and Bradys.
I'm not saying Lechler is a bad bloke, & my feelings towards his comments were like taking it with a grain of salt, because league wide the life of a punter is like someone who'd shine shoes back in the Industrial Revolution.. Who cares? he might be a nice bloke and captain. But like Wu-Tang Hokie pointed out when was the last time you won us a football game? Dudes entitled to a opinion. But he certainly doesn't talk on behalf of the whole team. Like Hue said he probably had 20 phone calls and txt messages from the players on the morning of his HC announcement saying there excited for 2011.

Oh I see the correlation and I don't disagree with anything you said in the last post. But saying the only reason he made all those probowls was because we had shit QB's, defenses, etc. is crazy....he made those probowls because he is fucking good. I'm not sure I would pay him what he makes....but to question his ability is wrong in my opinion.
O Shit, the punter is unhappy,
true that...who gives a fuck about the punters comfort level
a great punter, sure...but overpaid and not worth it...how many games has he won us?

Ok sorry i must of typed it wrong. I said he had the chance to become a good punter because he had all those opportunities to kick in game scenarios.
Just look at the life of a punter during training camp... Do they kick a lot of balls? Or are the Raiders so paranoid about Lechler/Janikowski getting injured during the preseason that they shelf them until game 3 of the preseason as to not increase there likelyhood of injuries.
I agree.. BEST PUNTER in the game & the Net Average Stat is all time leading... But I want to cut him cause a) we could buy a really special player with 4 million extra funds which is tied up in our punter (Janikowski is worth every penny. & b) I'm hurt that LEchler spoke the truth about Al getting rid of Cable.. Al paid him handsomely and Lechler gets pissed and runs to the media? I'm sure things will smooth over with those 2. maybe Lechler over-reacted? He'd be best to keep his mouth shut and say the right things at training camp to keep earning 8 million over 2 years!!
We officially have our OC....Seems like a good hire to me..........................we gotta bring back the boys from last year..............I cannot stress this enough!

Mike Waufle...perfect choice for Raiders defensive coordinator?I dont know how well any coordinator is really going to do if Al calls the gameplan..............................
http://tfdssports.com/2011-articles/january/mike-waufle-the-perfect-choice-for-dc.html
I wouldn't say all those qb's were shitty. I think it was more of the o-line blocking was shitty which it has been for years. There will always be someone better coming along.
It looked like it was a done deal back in 2005:Wouldn't that have been an interesting hire?
Sean Payton Reportedly to Become Raiders' New Coach
Al Davis has a history of not hiring high-profile coaches. Apparently, that trend will continue.
The Dallas Morning News reported on its web site Tuesday night that the Oakland Raiders will make Dallas Cowboys assistant Sean Payton their next coach.
According to the newspaper, Payton is expected to sign a four-year, $1.3 million contract. He spent much of Sunday and Monday interviewing with Davis, the Raiders' renegade owner.
Payton, 40, would become the NFL's youngest head coach. If wide receiver Jerry Rice returns to the club, he would be a year older than Payton.
The hiring also would complete a remarkable career rehabilitation for Payton, who as New York Giants offensive coordinator was stripped of his play-calling duties midway through the 2002 season.
This season, Payton was on Bill Parcells' staff with the Cowboys, overseeing the team's passing game while working with quarterbacks.
Hiring a relative unknown is nothing new for Davis. In 1998, he made Jon Gruden the youngest coach in NFL history at 34.
Gruden went 40-28 in four seasons and led the Raiders to an appearance in the AFC championship game before leaving over differences with Davis following the 2001 season.
In Oakland, Payton would replace Bill Callahan, who was fired one season after leading the Raiders to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1984.
In 2003, the Raiders went 4-12 and tied for last place in the AFC West. Callahan also drew the wrath of many of his veteran players for his unapproachable attitude.
With the Raiders, Payton would inherit one of the NFL's oldest teams and a club that is expected to have major salary cap problems. Oakland owns the second pick in April's draft.

then this happened: (note that the Raiders were going to go after Rex Ryan as an assistant under Peyton....he could have been a backup plan for Peyton if he didn't work out)
Sean Payton Will Not Be The Next Raiders' Head Coach
In a situation so bizarre it could only involve the Oakland Raiders, the agreement in principle with Sean Payton to become the franchise's next head coach has broken apart, and he will remain with the Dallas Cowboys as their assistant head coach.
ESPN.com reported Tuesday night that the two sides had struck an agreement on a four-year contract. Other published reports contended that Payton had not yet been presented the parameters of a contract.
In a Wednesday evening news conference with Bay Area reporters, Oakland owner Al Davis insisted the team had not settled on new coach to succeed the deposed Bill Callahan.
Typical of the Raiders, team officials on Tuesday were phoning Dallas-area newspapers, which also reported an agreement had been reached, in attempts to find out the sources of those stories.
But the Raiders apparently were so comfortable they had a deal, ESPN.com learned, that they began contacting assistant coaches from other teams -- including Baltimore defensive line coach Rex Ryan -- about interviewing for jobs on Payton's staff. And Dallas offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon, who also interviewed with Davis, acknowledged Tuesday night that Payton had won the job.
A source close to Payton told ESPN.com Wednesday night that it "probably isn't prudent to discuss (the situation) right now, because it is in such flux. ... But the bottom line was that there were things in the contract that Sean couldn't live with."
From interviews with several people involved in negotiations, it appears Payton backed away from the deal. Why? Several reasons:
Differences over issues of control, including staffing and personnel.
Reluctance to uproot his family for the second time in a year.
The feeling that it was neither the right time -- nor the Raiders the right team -- for Payton to begin his NFL head coaching career.
The skills of persuasion possessed by Dallas owner Jerry Jones and coach Bill Parcells.
It is believed both Jones and Parcells spoke at length with Payton on Wednesday about the positives and negatives of the Raiders job. Unlike defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who received a considerable salary increase when he rejected an offer to become head coach at the University of Nebraska two weeks ago, Payton did not have his current contract with the Cowboys upgraded.
The Raiders job would have capped a remarkable career turnaround for Payton. Less than two years ago, the then-offensive coordinator for the New York Giants was stripped of his play-calling duties by coach Jim Fassel.
Davis fired Callahan earlier this month after two seasons and a 17-18 record. The Raiders played in last season's Super Bowl, but Callahan came under fire this year from many veteran players who wanted him removed. Indeed, Callahan was, after a 4-12 season. He was hired last week as the new head coach at the University of Nebraska.
League sources emphasized Tuesday evening that Payton, who this season was the assistant head coach to Parcells, had yet to sign a contract and that there still were issues to be resolved. "Remember who [Payton] is dealing with here," said a league source, referring to Davis.
That cautionary note proved prophetic.
Payton, 40, would have become the NFL's youngest head coach. The seven-year league veteran is about four months younger than Bucs coach Jon Gruden (Callahan's predecessor in Oakland) and about eight months younger than Jacksonville's Jack Del Rio.
Payton is believed to be the only candidate among those known to have interviewed with Davis who was called back a second time to meet with him. Payton met much of the day Monday, and also part of Tuesday, with Davis and Oakland officials.
Beyond Payton, Davis also interviewed Kansas City offensive coordinator Al Saunders by phone; met in person with Dennis Green, who recently was named coach of the Arizona Cardinals; interviewed Carthon; and interviewed Greg Knapp, then the 49ers offensive coordinator. Knapp subsequently was named the new offensive coordinator in Atlanta.
I know to some it may not be a big deal, but I think it's a bit strange for Hue to say he "knows" the players but he can't seem to remember their fucking names!
He referred to Chaz "Schillings" last week and at his big press conference/zoo
he referred to "Reynaldo" McClain.....does anybody else notice this shit?
Actually I've rarely heard anyone get Schillens correct.

Why the panic RNP. The superbowl (for that matter the probowl) hasn't been played yet and fans are freaking out. If players want to leave, let them go and get better players. No one is irreplaceable. There is no CBA, the draft hasn't arrived yet. Be patient and see what the Raiders will be the next time there is a season.
And here my no nothing self thought Randy Moss was TRADED to the raiders instead of being a free agent signing. U know it all RaiderSilly, U know it all

I love how you act as though quality, and I stress the word QUALITY free agents are just clamoring to be an Oakland Raider. History has proven that not to be the case. I proved it to you once before. But you may have missed it so I will show you again.
Here are some of the many free agents that have come to Oakland since the days of Chucky. Randy Moss, Aaron Brooks, DeAngelo Hall, Lamont Jordan, Kerry Collins, Ray Buchanan, Ted Washington, Warren Sapp, Amos Zereoue, Edward Jasper, Dominic Rhodes, Gerard Warren, Jeremy Newberry, Tim Dwight, Javon Walker, Ashley Lelie, Gibril Wilson, Charlie Frye, J.P. Losman, and Kyle Boller, to name a few.
Wow Raidersully... Great effort in proving millernation wrong when you dig deep into the record books about digging up free agents name.
All i see is a bunch of names from the 2003-2009 circa when we were a bad team and a bunch of players who were lining up for a 2nd chance & not lining up for a chance for a ring. (why don't you mention guys like Ted Hendricks and Jerry Rice who signed up to play with the raiders????)
If we'd been the same 5-11 team in 2010 then i would of got on your negative train of thought, but a 8-8 team with a 6 win zero loss in the division... well that screams of a team where a quality free agent is going to go... "hmm i might just put these Raiders over the top"
Al's never had a problem with twisting a guys arm and paying them coin... So money won't be an issue. Just look at Julius Peppers and what franchise he went too.. it was the 2009 bears whom didn't even make the playoffs. Why'd he go there? to work with Lovie Smith and Urlacher. I think this scenario in 2010 will be similar where one more good player will lead to this raiders team having a chance to compete for the 2012 AFC Championship.
Obviously my fingers are crossed that Nnamdi, Seymour, Zach Miller and Michael Bush all stick around to build on the great work Hue Jackson has done for us.

These are a bunch of has been, never was, and old washed up free agents the Raiders have had over the past few seasons. All showed up, cashed Al's checks and were either dropped and never heard from again, retired, or remain on the current roster. These are the types of free agents we have been attracting as of late. With the exception of Samson Satele, Richard Seymour, and maybe Tommy Kelly (jury is still out) being free agents that panned out.
No stability does not bring in good free agents. It brings in the list I posted. And last time I checked none of those players had winning seasons with the Raiders. So stop acting as though the quality players we may lose are so easily replaceable. I understand optimism. But you have your head buried in the sand.

So are we still missing a DC or is Ross taking that position?
RaiderSilly also didn't mention Jason Campbell :'( as a signed free agent. The fact that crappy coaching couldn't take advantage of the free agent talent shouldn't fall totally on the free agents.
Some were bust and shouldn't have been signed but that is in every organization.
Moss was productive for the Pats
Dominic Rhodes helped out the colts
DeAngelo Hall is still ballin
Ashley Lelie sucked with the hos and should have never been in the league
Aaron Brooks had zero offensive line play
Frye, Losman and Boller were signed as backups.
Al has always taken a chance with the unwanted, outcast and castoffs

that rules sucks about being able to deny permission only in the case of HC. It should be extended to coordinator roles imo.
Perhaps the jets value this guy?
i dont like the jags candidate. When was the last time u said 'wow, jacksonville is getting to the qb'
i really want a former player to be our dc. Preferrably a smart linebacker or secondary as those positions play a lot of run and pass defense.

From Raiders.com news page:One of my all time favorite Raiders. I hope we draft his nephew from Pen State.

Well Greg, do you know who the other guy was (Joe Cullen) that the Raiders were reportedly considering for defensive coordinator? When he was with the Detroit Lions, he was arrested for pulling up to the drive-thru window at a Wendy's restaurant....naked. He also was arrested a 2nd time, within the same month, for DUI. Maybe Bresnahan wasn't a bad choice between the two?

Can't believe that we've picked up Rod Woodson, Al Saunders, The Wiz & Chucky B this offseason.AMEN! Lets hope this mess is cleared up soon so they can Coach these guys!
Every motherf#cker in Raider Nation has been speaking for the last 7 years about coaches not wanting to come to Oakland, Whilst it's true in terms of Premiere Head Coach, This coaching staff we have essembled is going to do wonders for guys progression.
I am so fired up with these additions to the Coaching Staff.
Lockouts, gov. shutdowns WTF has happened to this country where 2 groups can't negotiate and find common groundITS THE ULTRA RICH CONGRESS THAT HAS LOST TOUCH WITH THE WORKING AMERICAN...MONEY TALKS AND THE WORKERS ARE SCREWED.....THERE IS "NO" REPRESENTATION OF THE COMMON AMERICAN IN THIS COUNTRY....THEY LET HUGE COMPANIES TRANSFER JOBS TO THE THIRD WORLD AND ALLOW THEM TO SELL PRODUCTS HERE....TO US....WITHOUT ANY RESPONSIBILTY...THEY DONT PAY TAXES BUT HAVE HUGE HOMES IN PALM SPRINGS AND NEW YORK ECT. THOMAS JEFFERSON HAD IT RIGHT.."WHEN THE PEOPLE HAVE NO REPRESENTATION IN GOVERMENT ITS UP TO THE PEOPLE TO TAKE THE GOVERMENT BACK BY ARMS IF NESSESARY" THIS IS WHERE WE HAVE COME AND THE ULTRA RICH AND POLITITIONS ARE CLUELESS AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE MAJORITY IN THIS GREAT COUNTRY....THE OWNERS OF NFL TEAMS ARE PART OF THIS MESS......UNTIL THE FANS GET IT....AND STOP SENDING THESE TEAMS MONEY WE WILL SEE THE SAME GO ON IN THE NFL....
There were reports that chuck and the other three assistant coaches will be fired jan 15 two weeks after the final game..... Why the fuck would we wait two weeks
It would be nice to see if the raiders could get Ken Norton away from whereever he is at as a linebacker coach. Would love Jack Del Rio as a defensive coordinator but I feel he might follow Jeff Fisher if fisher gets a head coaching job. At least the Eagles r dumb enough to keep their defensive coordinator so the raiders won't be in competition with the eagles for a top def. coor.
I hope McK knows what he is doing. Most new GM's would give the coach a chance. Y is Herrera still on the payroll?I think that this is a serious tactical error.......give him one more year.......if we suck again......then fire him......! This team would be great with Bill Cowher!...........Talk about one hell of a good D and a fucking great running game!

Would Cowher want the headache of rebuilding? WTF is going to happen to Carson Palmer?
Carson is fine.....he never had any of his WR's consistently and never had MCGINA one time........he will be fine...played good enough and scored enough to win....the D lost almost all the games.....Leave Carson alone.........just needs to cut down on the INT's......this will be way better with a full offseason and a training camp.I think that this is a serious tactical error.......give him one more year.......if we suck again......then fire him......! You wanna go down the GB route? Gimme Flynn.

sweet bro thanks...and sorry for what i can imagin your going through there in Texas. Although the sorry Chiefs arent in the playoffs im getting the same grade F crap here...lol
Well after watching the press conference and hear Reggie say a few times that he wants to bring in "His Guy", i can only imagin that he is going to bring in Moss. I could be totally wrong on that point but that is just what it seemed like to me. I think at best he should find someone like cowher or gruden and bring in moss as DC/assistant head coach, but i know that is not realistic....lolSo let me get this straight.........we are gettting a guy who comes from a team that finished dead last in yards per game given up by the defense.......the packers also had more defensive penalties than the raiders...........nice....!
first thoughts on the GM-coach thing ... what the hell is up with mark davis's haircut? it's like he stuck a bowl on his head and left a mullet in the back. seriously, dude, you're rich as hell, spend some cash and get a decent cut. you're not 6 years old anymore, so stop having your mom cut your hair. jeez.
Just finished watching the press conference and I gotta say...we should all be excited about this.
Dom caper is now the one of the leading contenders for the head coaching jobs in Oakland I could be satisfied with this guy......

Dom Capers??? Only as a DC for me if he was to come in. Great defensive mind but has been a disppointment in the HC position with the Panthers and Texans in the past.
BRING BACK GRUDEN
BRING BACK GRUDEN
This is just my personal hope and dream. :)

Heh, mine too :)
Rich Gannon was actually talking about this today in one of his blogs. Said if there was any organization that could pull him out of the broadcast booth it was the Raiders. And he is good friends with Madden....we can hope right?
Im not sure if it was joke but on twitter it said Sanjay our WR's coach signed with the jets as there wide out coach... You guys hear this...

Mark Davis looks like a simpson's character Bart would fuck with at school. Damn, all that time under Al and he didn't learn shit. I really don't think mark wants this team and will put it up for sell within 5 years
capers is a retread. he's like wade phillips and all the other coaches who somehow move from team to team without ever doing shit. i'd rather have someone who's never been a head coach (and could be great) than someone who's shown time and again that he will never be great.LOL.......LOL
so ... bring back art shell!
Look....Dom Capers Has FAILED TWICE to bring a winning season one with the Texans and the other with the Panthers....Granted both teams sucked before his arrival BUT...... He did NOTHING to improve those teams......I for one am tired of watching the one year wonder Coaching CIRCUS........ Can we PLEASE find a solid guy......Gruden wants to coach again......Why not? He has a history of "Winning" here......Come on Reggie...Dont be a veggie......LETS DO THIS.....
What?! The fact that he hired a GM is BRIGHT! Where have you been? Al never did this and we kept LOSING! come on!?
Raiders to talk to Marty Mornhinweg, Mike TiceWow.....getting a GM has produced just a great group of candidates..........Tice was a joke in MINN......and Marty sucked too......so far none of these choices are better than Jackson.........

Hmmmm...after reading that article, and after reading Moss was already interviewed after the Packers loss, perhaps it could be this:
Marty Mornhinweg - Head Coach
Winston Moss - Defensive Coordinator
Al Saunders - retained as our OC
Does Reggie go after a new OC? Got to keep some continuity but if you're gonna start fresh, now's the time to do it.
Thoughts?
Well whoever the coach will be the head coach will bring in his own OC. Reggie already made that clear that the coach will be able to bring in anyone they want.Sources: Raiders, Winston Moss met

The Raiders are reportedly preparing to interview Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen for a second time. He's the first candidate that has been invited back for a second interview. This could be getting serious. Maybe we should learn a little more about who he is.Hell YEAAA "at the end of the day"........ The MOST worn out saying in Football! This guy is way too......."White" to be a Raider Coach.... I don't mean the color of his skin but his attitude is so..... Denver..... To me He does NOT seem to be one who can take on the Raiders persona and sell it......... Not that it matters but it's hard for me to see him in Silver and Black......
He's known for a "bend but don't break" defense that tends to give up yardage, but his teams are usually near the top in interceptions and sacks.
Here is a video of his Broncos press conference as he was preparing the Broncos defense to face the Patriots in the playoffs.

DENNIS ALLEN?...THAT BRONCAHOE LOOKING DWEEB...SMH :(...WE SHOULDA JUST KEPT HUE JACKSON...NO BUENO! >:( >:(HERE WE GO AGAIN. BUT, THIS GEEK WILL BE HERE FOR AT LEAST TWO SEASONS. HE IS RUMORED TO BE A HARD FISTED COACH. GOOD LUCK IN OAKTOWN GEEKBOY. THIS TEAM HAS BEEN RAISED ON AL DAVIS AND HIS TRUE CONCERN FOR THEM, AND NOW WE WILL HAVE A GUY THAT LOOKS LIKE HE IS FIFTEEN YELLING AND SCREAMING HIS WAY TO A LOSING SEASON. WE WERE SO CLOSE. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO WATCH AND SEE. WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT WE HAVE ALL SEEN THIS BEFORE. CAN'T BELIEVE WE COULD NOT GET A SOLID, "MATURE," AND RESPECTED COACH HERE. OH WELL. HE SURE WILL NOT LOOK GOOD IN SILVER AND BLACK. HARD TO SEE.
not sure about the hire.........i just think "lane Kiffin".......just hope he is not as arrogant as lane was..........I just dont think we have the personnel on defense to win........I dont care who the Head coach is...........All the corner backs suck in my opinion.................I guess only time will tell........

I'm a little surprised at the negativity on the hire...I'm excited. McKenzie is trying to rebuild this team the right way and what better way than to hire a young, up and coming, hard-nosed, fundamental loving head coach?
Looking forward to the press conference today and to see how Allen handles himself....Surely he wouldn't do that at a press conference....handle himself I mean :P

Hey raider greg,Yo...Raider Steve.... Everyone's got an issue..... Should have kept Hue....Should have kept Cable....Should have Blah Blah Blah..... The Raider Nation has NOT had any stable coach sense Grudin and Bruce Allen..... Then everyone was happy.....Why?... WE WON GAMES! thats why.... I am usualy the one who gets emotional about this stuff but.... I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Happy we have a GM and a Coach and the team is going to be run the way that other winning teams are run..... Im Happy.... I KNOW we will do better in every aspect of our team.... It will take time.... Let it happen..... YES Dennis does NOT look like a Raider Coach.... But.....What the hell does that mean......? Should he have a patch over one eye.....Or should he be doing some Rah...Rahhhhhh speaches.....HELL NO....All I want is him to Coach this team to wins.....I know we will be a better organization...... We have needed this for years...... Just let it happen..... You will all see......
would you rather have Dennis Allen as your head coach, the cable guy or hue jackson? He'sgonna be better than tom cable and probably hue jackson....if he finally brings discipline to the most penalized team in the history of the NFL he has started us in the right direction.nothing personal.but hiring reggie as general manager and Dennis Allen as our head coach is a Breath of fresh air for raider nation....I'm pumped!!:O)
DENNIS ALLEN SOUNDS A LIL TOO COUNTRY & DOESNT FIT WITH THE RAIDER IMAGE...BUT HE LOOKS LIKE HE HAS A PLAN AND IS FIRM AND MEANS BUSINESS & NOT JUST ASSSS KISSING TO THE RAIDER ORGANIZATION...THESE AINT GONNA BE YO DADDYS OLD SKOOL RAIDERS ANYMORE...WINNING CURES EVERYTHING AND THIS RAIDER FAN IS DRINKING THE KOOL-AID :o...I'M PUMPED UP FOR THIS SEASON WITH THIS NEW REGIME & THINK THE "MENACE" CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN :)...WE SHALL WAIT & SEE...GO RAIDERS!It really does not matter what this guy says until we get some real games..........I am just not really excited because we are basically going to run the same team out there as last year minus a few possible players who might leave (Michael Bush...Tyvon Branch).. and we have no draft to replace anyone who leaves....... :o :o
GREG KNAPP...........GREG KNAPP IS HE SERIOUS?...........THERE IS NOT A BETTER OC OUT THERE..........ARE YOU KIDDING ME.... WELL ITS LOOKING LIKE DENNIS IS HIRING HIS OLD FRIENDS AND NOT LOOKING FOR BETTER AND BRIGHTER MINDS...... THIS HIRE IS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO ALL THE RAIDER NATION AND MIGHT PROVE HIS UNDOING.... THIS GUY HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING GOOD IN YEARS AND HE RUNS A WEST COAST STYLE OF OFFENSE....... NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR OUR RAIDERS SO FAR....... LETS SEE IF HE HIRES JOE BUGLE TO BE THE NEW DC...... THATS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE....TO SAY IM CONCERNED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!Yep.......just was waiting for your optimism to fade......this is a joke ...........I was trying to be positive ......for about 2 seconds..........this guy sucks and we are doomed.......sorry guys ...........this team will suck and I dont know if we will ever win again........lets see......I divorced my ex wife 8 years ago because she spent all my $$$$$ and cheated on me.........oh wait........I think I'll marry her again because surely this time will be better............this team needed an enema.....WAIT..............it got one and we still suck................
I am hearing that Greg Knapp was offered the Offensive Coordinator job.............................WELL LET ME SAY THAT THIS IS CERTAINLY OFFENSIVE TO ME................HEY LETS DO EVERYTHING TWICE..............SHELL 2 TIMES.......BRESNAHAN 2 TIMES........AND NOW MAYBE KNAPP 2 TIMES.................THESE ALL WORKED OUT FOR THE GOOD THE 2ND TIME AROUND.................GREAT JOB.................NOW ALL THAT IS LEFT IS TO MOVE TO LA FOR THE SECOND TIME AND WATCH IT FAIL.........................WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In other news...Fassel leaving to St. Louis...see ya...time to go dude...don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.
Yesterday Allen sold me, but with Knapp as our OC, not so sure now...might as well keep that old fossil Al Saunders then...some buffoonery still hanging around in Alameda... ::)
In other news...Fassel leaving to St. Louis...see ya...time to go dude...don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.
Umm that saying don't let the door hit ya is saved for people you don't care to see leave.
I certainly thought Fassel was a great ST coach. The only issue I had with his schemes was the punt/kick returns that he allowed... but that's more of a Bresnahan issue for not teaching these meatheads not to tackle.
But just think of how many times Fassell one us games.
I can remember big special teams plays
@ HOU
vs BROWNS
@ KC (Stupid play clock)
Fassell in my opinion was a great ST coach.

Not me. I disagree. Lechler & Jano made ST shine. I have seen far too many big plays given up by special teams, huge returns in games that were close...I was at 2 of 'em Jacksonville last year and Buffalo this year. Shitty tackling and alligator arms prevalent on our guys too much...
Something I ran across in this article.....although Knapp was with the Raiders for the entire '07 and '08 seasons, he only had play calling duties for about half a season. People remember that our play calling wasn't great for those two years, but that was mostly Kiffin's and Cable's play calling. Check out this quote from the article:
"Hired by Lane Kiffin by Oakland in 2007, Knapp did not call plays with the Raiders until Kiffin was fired four games into his second season, and later in the season was replaced by head coach Tom Cable as the play-caller as the Oakland offense struggled with JaMarcus Russell at quarterback."
http://www.mercurynews.com/raiders/ci_19859146
GOT TO AGREE WITH YA MIKE..... BAD HIRE IN MY EYES..... GREG "TAKE A DIRT" KNAPP...... ALL I CAN THINK OF IS THE SEASONS OF 07 AND 08...... EASY TO FORGET BECAUSE OUR OFFENSE "SUCKED" HUGE..... THIS ONE IS A QUESTION..... I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT KNAPP IS THE BEST OC WE COULD FIND OUT OF ALL 32 TEAMS AND their ASSISTANTS...... I WILL BE WATCHING VERY CLOSELY TO THE DC..... THIS WILL TELL US ALL WHERE WE ARE GOING..... SO FAR IT'S LOOKING LIKE IT'S BACKWARDS...... AND THINGS WERE LOOKING SO GOOD UNTIL THIS..... UGGGGGGGGGGGSomething I ran across in this article.....although Knapp was with the Raiders for the entire '07 and '08 seasons, he only had play calling duties for about half a season. But what did he do AFTER he left Oakland? Bounced around the league for 4 years! What did he achieve nothing! In Houston they have the best WR Andre Johnson and RB Adrian Foster! Plus a elite Defense and still didn't do win shit! I don't like any of these hires but if I choose to watch my team I'll be forced to accept these clowns and watch them fail again....I hope I'm dead wrong!
LET ME SAY THIS...... WE HAVE A NEW COACHING STAFF AND WE WILL WIN OR LOSE BASED ON THESE CHOICES.... I BELIEVE NOW THE THE SHOCK IS OVER WE NEED TO GET BEHIND OUR NEW STAFF AS MUCH AS WE DO THE PLAYERS AND WAIT AND SEE HOW IT PANS OUT........ THERE ARE SO MANY REASONS THAT KNAPP FAILED AND WHO WOULD HAVE DONE BETTER GIVEN THIS ....... "NO ONE!" WE NEED TO GIVE THIS STAFF A CHANCE AND SEE...... YOU GUYS KNOW THAT IM THE FIRST TO FLIP OUT!!!!! WELL ..... IM CONCERNED BUT NOT "FLIPPED OUT" BECAUSE WE HAVENT SEE ANYTHING TO TELL ME ONE WAY OR THE OTHER....... I FOR ONE WILL TAKE A WAIT AND SEE ATTITUDE BUT IT SURE IS HARD TO SWALLOW....... THIS I CAN SAY.... 8)

Per Steve Corkran the Raiders are seeking permission to interview Packers DB coach Joe Whitt for the DC job. Wonder if permission will be denied? Wonder if we care?
I'm talkin about hiring these coaches........we were not able to get great coaches because of al......I wasn't talking about picking players....Well I hope to god not..................he was the 49ers coordinator from 07-10 and then the Chargers coordinator this past season......................niners were awful and the Chargers were not very good this year on D.........I dont know about you all but I certainly hope we dont pick this guy.................It blows my mind that we finally have the ability to pick phenomenal talent now that AL is gone and we pick this crap........................freaking terrible!
Sorry Hellraider but you're wrong buddy.
Taking that diss at Al Davis being a failure at a talent evaluator. Sure he has had his fair share of bad picks in the 1st round but rounds 2 thru 7 Al has always struck gold on his picks.
If you really think Reggie McKenzie is going to be some gifted scout your in for a big shock. Green Bay team sucks... The reason why they've been competitive is they've had 2 QB that will be heading to the hall of fame that have carried the franchise for the last 15 years.
Al Davis scout skills >>> Reggie McKenzie scout skills

oh that's great news....like we need a Bolt cast off. And who thinks Knapp didn't have a lot to do with the OL coach hire? I mean really... that dude has always been an assistant. At least they are keeping Wiz. But back to the zone block. So any word on who we are interviewing for DC?
I hope it's not goddamn Dan Reeves! (I hate that bastard!) When "the Menace" mentioned him as a mentor I almost fucking cried...but there's no crying in football. Otherwise, I like what he had to say.Let's just see what happens. At least Dennis the Menace already has a nickname...it took Chucky awhile to earn his.

"Raiders staff is green in key areas"Are we trying to win.............wow........I already posted this before..........."I know that once Al is gone we will be able to really go after some really great coaches because they will be free from his dictatorial ways".............I am quite sure we all thought that...........this coaching staff sucks..................harder than a $5 whore.........! >:( Tarver................who???????????? Where do they find this crap!!!!!!!
Bill Williamson, ESPN
"If there is a criticism about the new-look Oakland Raiders, it's that they are inexperienced at key leadership spots.
The Raiders continued that trend Monday by naming Stanford co-defensive coordinator Jason Tarver as their defensive coordinator. Tarver is 37.
Tarver is considered a bright, young coach, and he is clearly highly intelligent. He has a degree in chemistry and earned his master's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
But the truth is, he is going from being a co-coordinator who didn’t call plays in the college game to being a defensive coordinator in the NFL...
I’m not saying this group will not succeed because of their inexperience. All of these men have great potential. But they are going to have to grow in their roles together."

Is there no-one here who thinks that a ground up rebuild with a group that can grow together has the potential to put this team back on top for a long time?
We've spent the last 9 years working to the Al Davis single season championship plan and for 9 years we have failed miserably. All the comments I'm reading look like everyone is expecting the new guy to come in and win us a superbowl this year ???!!!? Did you all really think that was likely?
I wouldn't put your hopes on the play-offs this year or even next, but I would expect to see disciplin and consistency over the next couple of years. Building a team that that not only wins one championship and then fades away but becomes dominant.
I know we have all waited 9 years for change and we are all desperate to get back to winning but be patient and give these guys a chance.
For God's sake, let the man work and at least see what he has to offer before you start tearing him a new one!

I'm with you Essex Raider. I'm tired of waiting to get back to the playoffs like everyone else, but I think a reorganization was in order, and like you...... I like the young, new staff that could be here together for a long time. Obviously if they aren't successful and we end up with a whole new regime in a couple of years......well......I don't even want to THINK of that possibility. But for right now, I'm going to be optimistic and enjoy what could be a new "golden age" for the Raiders. (Please!)

I am COMPLETELY on board with the new staff. We have been trying to do it the "other way" for years and haven't done squat.
And for the nay-sayers, if you survived JaFatass you can survive this :)
I am looking forward to a young, energetic, fiery young coaching staff with the will to win.

Stoked to have Saunders back.
Still pissed that Knapp is our OC. i believe in people getting 2nd chances and Knapp is a run heavy OC.
What im really most pissed off about on Offense is the talk of us transitioning to the WCO. Granted the WCO worked out well for us once previously (Gruden era) I dont know how good its goinf to be this time around. We wont have the MVP QB (Gannon) throwing to the 2 greatest WR's in the history of the game (RICE & BROWN)... I understand its a dink and dunk offense. But Al Davis philosphy has always been the vertical game. McKenzie/Allen are spitting on Al Davis grave for even contemplating this idea.
Plus there is no greater specticle as a fan then watching a QB take his shots down field. get ready my friends for Carson Palmer to look like Alex Smith.. If we completely ignore the vertical game then I'm turning up Alamaeda with a ski mask & meat cleaver.
Saunders Returns to Raiders Coaching StaffTHAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT PEOPLE.........SMARTEST MOVE SO FAR THIS OFF SEASON......... THIS IS WHAT WE NEEDED IN THE FIRST PLACE......PERHAPS THE KNAPP HIRE HAS BEEN A MISTAKE........WHO KNOWS, BUT THIS WILL BRING SOME stable WINDS IN THE OFFENSE.......I'M RELIEVED. THIS MOVE IS HUGE FOR THIS TEAM.........CANnOT BE UNDERSTATED.......I AM STOKED ABOUT THIS MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best of luck to Hue there in Cincy....you KNOW he's in gonna want that "W" so bad when we travel there this upcoming season....
Despite all the lore of the Raiders being a dirty team, Al wouldn't have paid bounties for taking out players. He expected you to take out players as part of your regular salary. Take out some big players and your next contract might be bigger, but there wouldn't be a specific bonus tied to taking someone out. Al was too smart re: the rules, and too much of a bad ass to expect his players to anything less than hit people as hard as they could. How do you think that the media would have spun it if the Raiders did do it? Can you imagine the onslaught of CRAP that would flow from "THE DIRTIEST TEAM IN SPORTS" OR How about this one "THE GREATNESS IS IN THERE BOUNTY HUNTING"...... Now the Saints fly under the radar with some small fines and a slap on the wrist...... Priceless.....You know that the NFL will try to glaze over this one....... Classic NFL.... :o
So in that sense the fact that the Saints had to pay people extra to get them to hit Favre or Warner harder is kind of sad. Weren't their players already motivated enough?
Well Dennis Allen could be in trouble because he was there during the time that bountys were being put up and could get in trouble, but it is very unlikely.Despite all the lore of the Raiders being a dirty team, Al wouldn't have paid bounties for taking out players. I would like to see Saunders get the OC job and grab Whisenhunt or Shurmur as an assistant Head coach. Learn under Saunders for a year or until he decides to retire. Only problem with that is Allen may not want to have one of them looking over his shoulders, in case he F%&*'s up.Allen better worry about ONE thing...... Winning! he has got to Win and win fast to keep his job.....

Keeping DA is stupid mistake and he will fail...like he did this year and I'll be back in here to remind everyone about right now..... Bottom line he can't coach in the NFL and is incapable of leading men..... From this point on....I no longer will blame DA....anything that happens now is squarly on Mark Davis for allowing this to happen.....Now all these people that were saying "No way Gruden leaves the booth" we'll where are you now? Reports all over officially that Grudem wants to coach again....and may go to SD....if that is true ...not only do have to deal with Denver and Manning....but dealing with Gruden and Rivers twice a year will guarantee us ZERO Super Bowls for the next 5 years....take that to the bank....and all the blame will be on Mark Davis....I won't even care about DA or RM anymore from this point cause i seen what they produce....4 losses WORSE then Hue Jackson and Tom Cable the last two years! This is ALL Mark Davis's decision nowAGREED!!!! ITS NOT EVEN REGGIE.... MARK HAS LEFT THIS GREAT TEAM TO REGGIE WHO SUCKED BALLS AT HIS FRIST JOB HERE.... HIRING A GOOD COACH! NOW WE WILL BE FUCKED BY THIS LAME MOVE AND STUCK WITH A COACH WITH ZERO PASSION AND ZERO RESPECT FROM THE TEAM. HIS ENTIRE "ITS A BUSINESS" RANT LATELY MADE ME SICK! FUCK HIM... GO MAKE COFFEE MUGS OR SOMETHING ELSE.... THIS IS THE RAIDERS... A ONCE GREAT FOOTBALL TEAM..... MARK DAVIS BETTER GET A CLUE BECAUSE HIS NEXT MOVE MIGHT BE HIS LAST AS AN OWNER..... IF WE DONT GO AFTER GRUDEN HARD AND JUST DEMOTE ALLEN TO D COACH THEN THIS IS WAY MORE FUCKED UP THAN EVER! IF GRUDEN GOES TO THE BOLTZ WE WILL BE FUCKED FOR MORE THAN 5 SEASONS WE WILL BE THE NEW CLEVELAND BROWNS OF THE NFL..... IM SICK THINKING ABOUT THIS CRAP.....

The argument that upsets me is when raider fans say "But we can't keep firing coaches year after year"
That's all good and well in terms of Al Davis, but Reggie hired the wrong guy. When we have another 4-12 season next year and have to fire Dennis Allen next offseason then I'm sure be waiting with anticipation for everyone who anticipated stability.
The Dennis Allen/Reggie McKenzie regime is/was bound to be a train wreck because there is not one offensive mind in that partnership. Reggie needs to hire a Offensive guru.
Can't stress how unexcited I have been for a raiders team. I'm still gonna come to games and tailgate with the badboys of bbq but after my last trip abroad this november I'm not gonna expect a whole lot of effort and fight in this raider dog when they're being coached by a preschooler.

Great hire.
Sporano will be the perfect safety net for this team when he becomes interim head coach after Dennis Allen heads for another underachievers season (which i think he will)

I like the hire. Surrounding Donkey Dennis with experienced coaches is a good thing. Players love him and he runs a POWER system. Some guys are great positional coaches, and I am hoping Tony does well.
Tarver re-signed...so he's back as well as Abril on ST. Glad we didn't lose Sparano. Don't care for most of them except Tony, he's the lone bright spot on this coaching staff. We shall see. Full draft, $$$ to spend...RM and DA have no excuses this year. Build the trenches. BUILD THE TRENCHES!
LET'S GET IT DONE RAIDERS
