Title: Salaries and Salary Cap Issues
Post by: Randy on February 11, 2012, 07:00:51 AM
Here is a website that shows player salaries, free agent years, salary cap hits, signing bonuses, etc. If anyone knows any similar or better sites please post them on this thread. You can also discuss salary issues here too.

and here's another website that has a lot of info on the salary cap among other things:

Title: Don't think we can cut IR players from previous season.
Post by: RaiderWildeStyle on February 11, 2012, 07:59:11 AM
I think I read a rule in the new CBA that if a player ends up on IR then a NFL organization has to pay the player in full for the next season.

So that would mean players we can't cut are Hiram Eugene & Matt Shaugnessy.

Would love confirmation on this (if anyone knows).. I have a feeling this might of been a NFLPA proposal during Labor talk discussions or it might of been accepted by owners & now is concrete law.

Randy thanks for creating this thread. I have to be honest I've spent the last day or so consumed with Stanford Routt's contract and RaiderWilde's post around how him being but effects our 2012 cap.

When Routt was cut I was like "wow"! I was more in shock with the potential cap impact it would have vs losing our best corner.

I know no contract is the same and he did sign a 5yr 54 million contract last year. Reports now indicate a 2.2 million cap hit by cutting him before March 1st. I was quite surprised of how little the cap hit was. Reports indicated his contract included 20 mill guaranteed (of the 54million) and i'm struggling to find out how it can only be a 2.2 million cap hit.

His contract:

2011- 10 mil
2012 - 5 mil + 5 mil roster bonus
2013 - 11.5 mil
2014 - 11.5 mil
2014 - 11.5 mil

RaiderWilde - I believe you were prorating the 20 mil guaranteed over the life of the contract 20/5yr = 4mill to come up with that 4 mil cap number. I believe this is correct if it were a signing bonus but I don't think he signed one. If the 20 mil was indeed a signing bonus and we cut him like we did prior to March 1st (new league yr) then the remaining proration becomes accelerated for 2012. In other words it would be a 16mil cap hit for 2012.

I have to believe his contract is worded "20 million in guarantees" NOT "guaranteed". It was reported his contract included 20 mil guaranteed the first two years. It's mostly like he received his 10 mil in 2011 (guaranteed) and in 2012 his 5 mil base and 5 mil roster bonus were both "guaranteed" IF ON THE roster "guarantees" . So i'm thinking he's only going to walk away with the 10 million from 2011 and that's it, no future cap hits in year 2013-2015 and no future payouts.

What i'm still puzzled about now is where does this 2.2 mil cap hit come from.....

For me personally, they can let Wimbley go.  He is a money-first player and doesn't give a shit about winning.  Carson, Seymour and Huff have just showed their commitment to this team.  We are making big changes and the "Al Scholarship" days are over.  Kam is replaceable.  He can go back to Cleveland, where careers go to die.
Title: Raiders latest cap figures - Raiders could be under the cap, or very close to it
Post by: Randy on March 09, 2012, 08:22:19 PM
According to this article, after the Palmer restructuring the Raiders could be within $3 Million of getting under the cap......and this is if the 2012 cap remains $120 Million as it was in 2011. It could go up. The Raiders may already be under the cap in that case. The 2012 cap hasn't been announced yet, but there may be an announcement today according to "internet rumblings."

Right on.  He would have got a chance to play here this year, CP3 is one hit away from IR.  We better get a serviceable back-up!    Garrard, Leinhart, or Delhomme quickly come to mind....I can't hate on Campbell though.  Truly a CLASS ACT.  I wish him the best of luck and he will always be held in high regard by this Raiders fan.

Post by: Randy on December 05, 2012, 12:24:11 AM
Naturally, these contracts can be restructured and a lot of these numbers could change in the off-season. Not to mention that a lot of these players could be cut before next season. Note that the salaries shown do not include signing bonuses. To see those, just click on the player's name and you'll get more info. For instance, the yearly list shows Carson Palmer's salary for 2013 as $13 Million, but if you click his name you'll see his $4 Million signing bonus, for a total of $17 Million for 2013. Dennis Allen is even on the list, but it doesn't say what his salary is. It just says he'll be an unrestricted free agent in 2016.

Oakland Raiders: $2.8 Million

Notice that the Raiders are 5 teams from the bottom of the list in cap room, and the Packers are 6 teams from the top of the list. Glad to see that Rolondo McLame is off the team, same goes for Tommy Kelly!  We'll need to give Reggie a fair shot of clearing out the team and setting things straight.  He was, after all, left with a mess.  I'm not too sure about Dennis Alan but I say we give reggie a shot.
