Can't blame Palmer...allowing someone to rush for nearly 300 yards doesn't add up to winning too many games
That being said he still had us in the game late....
Absolutely. You want the deep ball and explosiveness, you're going to have turnovers. The guy slung it over 60 times yesterday. There are going to be picks. If the defense at least somewhat contained Doug Martin, we'd all be singing a different tune this morning.
Ray Rice is licking his chops right now
Palmer's last pick was bad, but communication with receivers was an issue the whole game. If our run defense had only been half-assed instead of full-assed, we would have won. How is it that when our RBs run into a crowd at the line, they get tackled, but when Martin did it, he just bounced off and ran for a million yards? That run defense was shit. Complete shit. Once again our D made a RB look like a star. How many guys have had career days against us over the years? And how many of them never do shit after that? Unbelievable.
The safety play looked like shit too. On one play, Teflon Branch follows the pass all the way to the receiver ... and lets the ball hit him in the helmet. He couldn't pick that one off instead? And some of the angles the safeties took on receivers and Martin were just horrible.
Palmer is the least of our worries. He's the best QB we've had since Gannon. I know that's not saying much. Remember McClown? Russell? OK, I won't go down that road ... we know the names. Eww, I just got a chill down my spine.
This team simply isn't very good. Good teams play all 4 quarters. They tackle guys who are in their arms. They win 3 games in a row. They don't commit stupid penalty after stupid penalty. They win. That's not this team. Not this year. Maybe next year, when they have a few more picks and more cap room. But, we blew our loads on Seymour and Palmer, and we spent to win before Al passed on. That didn't work out too well. Oh well.
And how much money are the Raiders losing by saying it was a sellout when it wasn't? They have to give the visiting team more money when that happens, and the last 2 games were nowhere near sellouts. But ... win, and the place will be full. Unless Martin has like 10,000 family members he wants to invite to the game. Hell, sell the tickets to him at $5 a pop. That's better than having empty seats.
