I am not convinced Murray is 'the' guy.  I like what he has done, but I also am not sold based on what he's done.  If that makes sense.  I really hesitate when thinking of taking a RB in the 1st round, especially in a deeper 'RB' draft.  It seems to me, the Raiders could get away with drafting one in the 3rd maybe and platoon with Murray?  The RB's role have changed so much over the last few years, I often think the days of every team having that 'stud' RB are over.  Yes, there are still some out there, but it seems most teams are utilizing 2 or 3 in the backfield instead of trying to find (and pay) one workhorse.

I feel as if the Raiders still need big talent on both lines and in the secondary.  Mostly that feeling is based on what I have read and heard the last few weeks.  After watching the club the last two seasons, it seems most of the high profile positions are filling in nicely....

Well, we are almost to the draft....two big trades thus far...teams trading out of the top spots....draft seems deep in O-Line and D-Line players...at least in the 1st round...Who should the Raiders be looking at?  Can they get that player or will they have to settle for another need?

This draft is supposed to be deep in RBs too. Are you guys satisfied with Murray, or should we use one of our first two picks on an RB?

Always up for Raiders chat....I have been one of the newer members I believe, but have never been on here with anyone else.  Just thought maybe I was on during the wrong times!  Unpopular east coast hours ya know?

Yeah you're right Donry about it being the slow part of the year....should be picking up going into the draft....but activity in here has really dropped in general over the last 2 or 3 years.

I think it is a fine idea as well Randy.  I'll be the first to admit that with so much social media news available it has reduced how often I drop by.  You have always put in a lot of time and effort into posting the latest news links and we appreciate it but probably overkill at this point :/

Thanks Rodney

Since we're getting so few people in this forum lately, the last few years actually....I was wondering if it's worth keeping up. I did some browsing around for other Raider forums, and I found one I'll link below (raiderforums.com)

Here is the link:

Randy, you have always done a great job at keeping us up to date with what is happening in the Raider Nation and with you locating this new forum, just solidifies with what I just said.  I think that it's a great idea to merge into raiderforums.com

Go Raiders!
Thanks Kev :)

Since we're getting so few people in this forum lately, the last few years actually....I was wondering if it's worth keeping up. I did some browsing around for other Raider forums, and I found one I'll link below (raiderforums.com), that typically has over 200 people logged in at any one time....as opposed to anywhere between zero and 5 people who are on our forum at any time. Like right now they have 234 users logged on, more than half of them are registered users and are logged on with their usernames, and over 100 guests. Our forum right now has 3 guests logged on, and no registered users except me.

I sent the guy who runs it an email asking him I was thinking about redirecting our forum banner (on our raidernationpodcast.com home page) that is linking to this forum now.....and have it link to their forum instead. He said we are welcome to do so if we want to. I just thought I'd throw it out to you guys and get your opinions. Check out the link below and see what you think. Does anyone visit this forum already? I could always keep our forum up and running, maybe with a separate link to it, if people want to keep the ability to post and interact here on this smaller forum. It does have information that the other one doesn't, like directions to our tailgate party and a few other things. Let me know your opinions. Thanks.

Here is the link:

P.S.     Or if you know of another Raiders forum that you like better than the above one, send us the link!

Sounds like a great idea for some cross-promotion. Raider Nation Podcast links to their forums and they promote the Raider Nation Podcast.  8)

And yeah, I think it's a good idea to keep this forum up in a different link, if only so people can access posts from the past.

OK, thanks for the input. I'll set up new links today.

Thanks for the opinions Kev. I agree with everything. Congrats on another strong year in our fantasy football football league, although you had some bad luck at the end with the 5th place finish. As usual you had a strong draft (Winner of the Best Draft award), and you're our only 3-time League Champion (2009, 2012, 2013). Good luck in 2016!

I really enjoy the RNP Fantasy Football League and look forward to being a 4-time League Champion. On another note, imagine how awesome it is going to be when the RNP will be doing shows during a winning season, I believe that the closest was an 8-8 season.  The boneline will surely ring off the hook!

Go Raiders!

Yes, the closest is the TWO 8-8 seasons. Sometimes Greg gets discouraged, or he just gets overwhelmed with too many things outside the podcast he's dealing with....and he talks about calling this quits. I have to remind him of just what you're saying. It would be sad to have done this podcast for over ten seasons without one winning one.....and then to have us go to the playoffs and not be covering it? I know that would never happen. Greg would have to come out of the woodwork and get back into it! I think the promise of this season is giving him some renewed energy to keep going. There's no stopping now! (at least until we get two or three back-to-back losses....then hold your breath!......and watch out for the all caps posts on his Facebook page!)  :)

I miss the activity that used to be in the forums. Randy, you're most likely right, that everyone is probably on Twitter or Facebook, which are two things that I really don't get into. It seems that there is too much drama on FB.

As for the Raiders, I'm really excited in the direction that they've taken, especially most recently with free agency. I'm really looking forward to this season!  Every year, as a fan, it seems like our battle cry was "Wait till next year!", well, now it's next year and we are looking solid! I am so stoked!

Finally, for anyone who's keeping tabs... I am a strong supporter for Carr! Hell, this should never even be a subject for discussion but it always tends to wiggle it's way in somehow (like I just did).

Go Raiders!

Yeesh, yeah those Allen years were dark times for sure :/  Seems nice for us to finally be on the right track!  I can't remember the last time I was so excited for an upcoming season!  Well, you know what I mean...I'm always excited but this year we have legitimate hope for a playoff run  8)

I'll go as far as calling it destiny. We are destined to be a contender this season. It's been a long time coming. We're due. How many other cliches can I throw out here?

These are definitely exciting times. Actually, these were shocking times when Free Agency opened and key players were actually signing with the Raiders. Now that enough time has passed to get used to that feeling, they're exciting times. And I so can't wait for the Draft! Seriously, if news starts hitting of the city of Oakland and the Raiders finally getting a stadium deal going through, I think I'll... well, I don't know what I'll do, but it'll be amazing. Do you think all of that is too much to hope for at this point?

Hey Randy!  Hope you're doing good!  I've not been by for a few weeks but I'd love to see this forum get busy again.  Exciting times for our boys ;)

Hey Rodney! Yeah, lately when I come on the forum to update the news links, I've been seeing more people in here.....either logged in under their member name or browsing as guests. Either is very welcome. I can see what section of the forum they're looking at, and it usually isn't the news links.....it's usually some folder filled with old posts....where the latest entry was made in 2015 or even earlier years. I was seeing a steady decline the last couple of years....but the slight increase of people coming in here lately got me a little hopeful. I feel bad for people going into folders and reading posts from when Dennis Allen was coach (or even earlier coaches). I can add a few things, but I don't think every post coming from me would be very interesting. Greg doesn't even come in anymore, he just checks his Facebook page.

I just thought I'd throw this comment out and see if it stirs anything up.  :)    Thanks for commenting Rodney! You are one of our solid contributors for sure!

If we could get something going in here, maybe we could get some of his input here. But get ready for all caps!  ;)

On the home page of this forum, at the very bottom, there is a counter that records the top number of people who were logged on today at the same time "Most Online Today", and the top number that were EVER logged on at the same time (Most Online Ever). The all-time record is 125 people logged in at once (record was set on August 10th, 2009). I wonder what happened that day? Lately the counter will say something like 4 for the current day.

I just did a Google search out of curiosity, to see what Raiders stories were posted on August 10, 2009. Here are a couple of them:

You browse through the folders in this forum, and you see hardly any recent posts. They're almost all posts from previous seasons.....some of them from 3 or 4 seasons back. I guess everyone is on Facebook and Twitter now.

Is anyone interested in doing any Raiders talk in this forum? I scour the internet every day and post all the latest news stories on the Raiders and the NFL.....and I hope I'm not the only one reading them. http://www.raidernationpodcast.com/forum/index.php?topic=1368.0   Can you guys give me some feedback on whether or not you read any of the news stories?

If you are interested in talking Raiders, or AFC West, or any other NFL related topic.......help me get some discussion going in here!

Thanks.
