This kid Hayden can play. Hopefully we can pick him up in the 3rd round. I still say it be best if we could trade down and get more picks. I think the St. Louis lambs got 2 picks in the first. I we could swap our first for one of there's and get an additional pick would be ideal.

Raiders a lesson in draft mismanagement
http://min.scout.com/2/1281226.html

Tough reading but I can't help but wonder if it would have made any difference who we drafted (when we hadn't thrown our picks away). Gallery, Huff, McClain and yes, even Fatass himself, were all regarded as good picks at the time by the majority of "experts". Was it rank bad luck none of them panned out or was it the organisation itself? Were they all doomed the minute they were dropped into the Raider environment with the pressure and $ of a 1st round pick?

I feel it's a mixture of all of the above. Realistically, the odds of use having that much bad luck with top tier picks are very slim. Organization, the never ending bad coaching, too much money, too much pressure to produce for a horrible team... All factors. Analyzing JaCarcass' cerebral substance before drafting him seems to have been neglected as well. Or maybe the experts liked setting Al to take the bad pick? I always wondered if that's why Al took Russell? Merely theory I know. I was hoping for Troy Smith that year honestly.

so true, but painful to read. and even more painful to watch! they should put all these former raiders together for a reality TV show. something like "bullshit island" or "survivor: al davis."

i used to wonder how matt millen kept his job in detroit after all those shitty drafts, but now it makes sense. matt millen learned his trade from al. saying "i learned everything from al davis" might sound good if you're talking about something other than the draft.

nowhere to go but up from here!

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I go by 808 raider (from Hawaii). 808 is hawaiis area code. Anyway, as far as the draft goes, I think if we can't get shariif Floyd at 3, then we should trade down for more picks. Honestly, theres not many players in this draft that are first round prospects. And as far as free agency goes, I do have to back mckenzie up in a suttle approch to it. We've all seen what happens in signing big names in free agency (eagles). Look, bottom line is its going to be a rebuilding process in years to come. So we need to make the right decisions for the future of the raiders. Signing 30 something year old players to me, in my opinion, is not what we need to be doing. Sure some veterans can mentor young players, but some vets are just too expensive, and not much left in the tank. Its gonna be ugly for a few years, I hate to say it, cause its been ugly for far too long. But this has to be built from the ground up, so let's just hold tight, and the silver and black shall rise again! Raider nation!

Glad to have you on here, welcome!

With the 3rd pick in the 2013 Canal Street Chronicles community mock draft, the ghost of Al Davis selects...

Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama Crimson Tide

http://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/2013/3/27/4151206/nfl-mock-draft-2013-oakland-raiders-dee-millner

haha...actually Miliner wouldn't be a bad pick talentwise but for me, I'm done with players from Alabama.  We have our own terd in Slowlando McLame but Dre Kirkpatrick (last year's Bama CB) is a bust so far.   Not even to mention 4 players got kicked off the team recently for theft............

Number of draft picks per year - Reggie McKenzie vs Al Davis
« Reply #42 on: March 12, 2013, 06:05:05 PM »
Green Bay Packers Draft History (# of picks each year Reggie McKenzie was there) - compared with how many picks the Raiders had during those years with Al Davis picking.

2011 - Packers 10 picks (Raiders 8 picks)
2010 - Packers 7 picks (Raiders 9 picks)
2009 - Packers 8 picks (Raiders 6 picks)
2008 - Packers 9 picks (Raiders 5 picks)
2007 - Packers 11 picks (Raiders 11 picks)
2006 - Packers 12 picks (Raiders 7 picks)
2005 - Packers 11 picks (Raiders 7 picks)
2004 - Packers 6 picks (Raiders 9 picks)
2003 - Packers 9 picks (Raiders 10 picks)
2002 - Packers 6 picks (Raiders 8 picks)
2001 - Packers 6 picks (Raiders 7 picks)
2000 - Packers 13 picks (Raiders 6 picks)
1999 - Packers 12 picks (Raiders 7 picks)
1998 - Packers 8 picks (Raiders 9 picks)
1997 - Packers 8 picks (Raiders 6 picks)
1996 - Packers 8 picks (Raiders 7 picks)
1995 - Packers 10 picks (Raiders 7 picks)
1994 - Packers 9 picks (Raiders 6 picks)

Totals for those 18 years:

Packers: 163 picks (average 9 picks per year)
Raiders: 135 picks (average 7.5 picks per year)

More important would be how many of those picks were successful. You can look that up yourself here:

I hope not.  I am not sold on this kid.  We need help everywhere - both lines, secondary, LBs....regardless of where you stand on Palmer or Pryor for our QB, we have 2 serviceable QBs for the time being.  IMO, we need help elsewhere.

I'd rather we trade our pick for additional picks Randy. We've only got 6 picks (not counting any supplementary picks that may come our way) and that isn't enough to fill all the holes we currently have.
