There are guys who act in the gay porn industry who generate revenue for their companies and overall I am sure make a profit, should that give them the right to bitch for more money?   i dont think so, they make more $ than the average Joe.   :o

They only want to get paid market value.  I don't hear people bitching about actors making $20 million a movie being overpaid.  The bigger the star, the more money they get.  In pro football, you got to get yours and get it quick.  A signed contract means nothing to the owners so why should it mean something to the players.

Agreed. The Jets were willing to pay because they know Revis has that game changing ability only the very best possess.

Like you said, market value.

Besides, I'm no New Yorker but I'll wager they shift a ton of jerseys and "Revis Island" gear on the back of him signing.

Overpaid players?  How much money is Rivas contributing to the jets organization.  If he is a valuable commodity, he should be paid as such.   The average everyday Joe doesn't generate millions of dollars in revenue

Yes it's excessive...if anything they should be looking at keeping the 16 game regular season and still dropping 2 preseason games.  Injuries and even the healthy (healthy as they can be after a season of football) are worn out by the end of the season as is.  It will shorten careers as well....

No thank  you to an 18 game season.  The players will just want more money.  I can see more injuries because in preseason some of the players dont play all out like they would in the regular season.  NO THANKS!
Your right hellraider....Rivas(from the Jets) just got over 10 million a SEASON...That's more than Joe Six pack makes in his ENTIRE life!I just got stuck with over a 800 car repair bill...and over 500 of it was for the fan motor...I'm SICK of these OVER PRICED NFL stars claiming how ROUGH they have it!
    I am Totally against a 18 game season...16 is just PERFECT!:O)

I dont like the idea of an 18 game regular season, there's nothing wrong with how it is now, with an 18 game schedule you would have more injuries, more meaningless end of season games, we would all like to see more Football but at what cost?  if all the best players were injured at the end of the season the playoffs would be a sham. Fans in the stadium and at home want to see the best players on the field in meaningful games, not injured on the sideline, its just an excuse for the owners to make more money, i dont blame the players for being against it, some earn vast fortunes but alot dont, add to the fact that contracts are not guarenteed and you begin to understand there concerns.

I'm on the fence.  As a fan I'd love to see the season to be extended or start sooner due to the extra games.  Like everyone else I worry about the injuries.  From the owners perspective it's more $$ in their pockets I guess.  I totally see why the players hate it.
Like Raidernitemere said some type of compromise would be ideal...17 vs 18....reduce training camp two a days...less full contact hitting in the offseason (training camp).  Anything to reduce the risk of injury prior to the lengthening of the season.

I'd love to have the fantasy football be stretched a couple more weeks  ;D

I down with 18 games...It would mean less preseason injuries of starting players, at least if they go down they would of done it in a regular season game. Whats the difference they already play 20 games with the preseason, teams could display 2nd and 3rd string players if they wanted to. Two preseason games is good enough for me, I just want the season to start already.

I have to say im against it. I might be one of the few people out there that actually enjoy the preseason. I need to see the depth we have at each position because it's likely that some of the back-ups will be starting or have a bigger role during the regular season. Another thing to look at is poor Chaz. If there was 18 games, who knows what would happen to him!  :D

if a 2-game preseason, and 18-game regular season, plus 3 rounds of playoffs and a championship game is too much football, then someone had better tell all the players up in Canada, because they've been playing that way for a long time. and they do it for a hell of a lot less money.

Canadians also have a bigger field, more players and less downs.  It's also not as physical

True, and couldn't they figure a way to have two bye weeks during the season to help with the fatigue?

On the other hand, the longer a season is, the earlier games become irrelevant so would it really improve the "product"?

18 game schedule is stupid.  The 3rd preseason game is used to polish your 1st teams gameplay.  4th used to determine final job status for those on the fence.  Doubt if the NFL owners pay the players extra for the 2 games.  The beginning of the regular season would be horrible.  Players already have bad health after their careers.  What the owners should do is cut the ticket prices for pre-season games

Ok tell me what you think of the NFL proposing to extend the regular season to 18 games and get rid of the 2 preseason games instead........ I say NO cause by December it is cold and players energy levels are down and injury bugs already in... by the time we complete the 18 game schedule the playoff football quality will drop off from too many football games. I think they should leave it alone and find a middle ground. Nothing like watching Millionaire Vs Billionaires fight over money!
