DENNIS ALLEN?...THAT BRONCAHOE LOOKING DWEEB...SMH :(...WE SHOULDA JUST KEPT HUE JACKSON...NO BUENO! >:( >:(
HERE WE GO AGAIN. BUT, THIS GEEK WILL BE HERE FOR AT LEAST TWO SEASONS. HE IS RUMORED TO BE A HARD FISTED COACH. GOOD LUCK IN OAKTOWN GEEKBOY. THIS TEAM HAS BEEN RAISED ON AL DAVIS AND HIS TRUE CONCERN FOR THEM, AND NOW WE WILL HAVE A GUY THAT LOOKS LIKE HE IS FIFTEEN YELLING AND SCREAMING HIS WAY TO A LOSING SEASON. WE WERE SO CLOSE. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO WATCH AND SEE. WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT WE HAVE ALL SEEN THIS BEFORE. CAN'T BELIEVE WE COULD NOT GET A SOLID, "MATURE," AND RESPECTED COACH HERE. OH WELL. HE SURE WILL NOT LOOK GOOD IN SILVER AND BLACK. HARD TO SEE.

In car listening to 95.7 The Game....Greg Papa is on. They are getting ready to do a telephone interview with a Broncos defensive player or ex player who will give his insight on Dennis Allen. Go to 95.7 the game website and listen. Should be good. They will archive it if you can't listen live.

Live chat with Raiders beat writer Steve Corkran in an hour and a half. Last Tuesday they started 15 minutes early. The chats are great if you haven't checked them out before.

Reports coming out of ESPN say the Raiders are negotiating with Dennis Allen to hire him as head coach. Ask Steve your questions at noon Pacific and follow the chat discussion with the rest of Raider Nation.

Steve Corkran just tweeted, "ESPN's Adam Schefter says Raiders negotiating with Dennis Allen. Raiders might have new head coach real soon."

Raiders, Dennis Allen negotiating

Other Raiders head coaching candidates, including Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice, already have been informed that Oakland has found its man and they are no longer under consideration, according to sources.

Examining an Allen-Raiders pairing
« Reply #482 on: January 24, 2012, 01:09:44 PM »
Examining an Allen-Raiders pairing

If Allen is McKenzie’s hire, it will end a decades-long tradition in Oakland. John Madden, hired in 1969, was the last defense-minded head coach of the Raiders.

Even though he was a first-time coordinator, Allen had a major impact in Denver. The Broncos were last in nearly every major defensive category in 2010. However, under Allen’s guidance, Denver’s defense improved immensely in 2011 and was a big reason why the Broncos improved from 4-12 to 8-8 and why they ended up as division champions.

Oakland has a lot of talent on defense, but it has been giving up way too many big plays. If Allen gets the job and straightens out this problem, Oakland could be dangerous.

In addition to improving his own team, McKenzie would weaken a rival with this move. That’s a nice bonus.

The Raiders are reportedly preparing to interview Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen for a second time. He's the first candidate that has been invited back for a second interview. This could be getting serious. Maybe we should learn a little more about who he is.

He's known for a "bend but don't break" defense that tends to give up yardage, but his teams are usually near the top in interceptions and sacks.

Here is a video of his Broncos press conference as he was preparing the Broncos defense to face the Patriots in the playoffs.

Hell YEAAA "at the end of the day"........ The MOST worn out saying in Football! This guy is way too......."White" to be a Raider Coach.... I don't mean the color of his skin but his attitude is so..... Denver..... To me He does NOT seem to be one who can take on the Raiders persona and sell it......... Not that it matters but it's hard for me to see him in Silver and Black......

I was thinking the exact same thing as I was watching those videos.

Dennis Allen's "Bend but don't break" Defense...wtf dude

That's all we need....giving up tons of yards but then in the same breath saying, "but we had 5 sacks that game!"  I could really hear Raider Greg saying that bulllllshit on the Podcast...puh-leaze

Gimme a break.  Like I have said before, I want a HC (as well as coaching staff) who immediately demands respect.  This team is undisciplined and needs direction.

C'mon McKenzie, make the right choice!

I think we all know he really wants Moss as coach, too much history between the two. I think this second interview (since it happened after the interview with Moss) is just to see if he can either talk a better game aka beat out what Moss probably told them in the interview.

I have not heard of one coaching prospect that excites me..............Sorry to say.......but unless we were to get Gruden....and I know that is not going to happen......then Hue Jackson should have been the man for the job at least for this year...........these choices are all old garbage retreads that probably would have been thought about if Al were in the market for a new one...........the 2 that really sound terrible are Mornhinweg and Tice.......this is going to be terrible.........so much for the idea that the only reason we didn't ever get viable candidates was because of AL's meddling ways................ >:(

McKenzie says new coach could be hired 'soon'.

Reggie McKenzie has been a relative man of mystery since his introductory media conference as the Raiders' new general manager on Jan. 10.

"That's just the way I like it," he said with a huge grin after getting off his connecting flight here Monday morning.

Indeed, McKenzie has made no public comments since that day...

But McKenzie was easy to spot on the plane, sporting Raiders gear from head to toe, from his Raiders cap to his Raiders polo shirt to his sweat pants emblazoned with the Raiders logo.

The first true Raiders G.M. hired since Al Davis in 1963 has his plate full and he will be joined by eight scouts, he said, here during Senior Bowl week to go through the paces. In fact, McKenzie turned his nose up at a report that said his interview with Moss last week did not go well.

"That's far from the truth," McKenzie said.

Following then, a brief Q&A with McKenzie at the Mobile airport at the dawn of Senior Bowl week…

Paul Gutierrez: How would you describe the past two weeks and everything you've been doing since you've become G.M.?

Reggie McKenzie: Lot of work, lot of fun, you know? New job. It's a dream job, so lots of things to do to get started.

PG: Have you spent much time in Alameda, or have you been on the road non-stop?

RM: Everything (laughs). I work in the in the office and been away a lot.

PG: Thoughts on these playoffs so far, had to tug at your heart at least a little to see the Packers lose right away?

RM: Yeah, yeah, that was disappointing but that's usually what happens -- the hot team usually keeps rolling. That's what happened with the Giants. They're rolling. Same with New England, really.

PG: What are your plans as the Raiders General Manager here at the Senior Bowl this week, what do you hope to get accomplished, what are some of the things on your checklist while you're here?

RM: Well, you know, the normal. Meet and greet with the players, see what they look like, kind of get an idea who's what. Coach meetings. It's kind of different, being the G.M. (smiles broadly). And trying to finalize a coach, you know?

PG: And that's the next question, obviously: where is that process right now? A lot of names out there and I know you said you wanted your "guy" and that you had a short list but didn't want to say who was on it until you had to…

RM: And I'm going to keep it like that (laughs). You'll know soon enough. Soon enough.

PG: Is this something that could happen this week?

RM: Yeah. Yeah. It could happen. It could happen by Saturday.

PG: A lot of names out there so far -- Bowles, Moss, Allen, Mornhingweg. But let me throw another name out at you…Jon Gruden?

RM: (Smiles and pauses for seven seconds) I'm going to just laugh. You can put 'giggle.' (Laughs again).

PG: Have you made any hires yet, staff, coaches, scouts?

RM: No. Our purpose first is to evaluate what we have, and I'm not in a hurry to hire and fire, at all.

PG: What about the assistant coaches that are currently under contract?

RM: That's going to be up to the new coach.

PG: So then the guys that are still under contract technically are still working until the new coach comes in?

RM: Yeah.

PG: So then they're kind of in, I don't know if limbo is the right word?

RM: Yeah, well, you know, but they're in kind of an interview mode, I would say.

PG: And the coaches no longer under contract?

RM: They're free to interview. The (new) coach could interview those guys, too. We're keeping all the doors open for the new coach.

Will Al Saunders stay in Oakland, or return to KC? (or somewhere else)
« Reply #467 on: January 23, 2012, 12:30:55 AM »
Sources: Raiders, Winston Moss met

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7489857/sources-oakland-raiders-already-interviewed-winston-moss-green-bay-packers

Hmmmm...after reading that article, and after reading Moss was already interviewed after the Packers loss, perhaps it could be this:

Marty Mornhinweg - Head Coach
Winston Moss - Defensive Coordinator
Al Saunders  - retained as our OC

Does Reggie go after a new OC?  Got to keep some continuity but if you're gonna start fresh, now's the time to do it.

Thoughts?

At the end of this article (see link below), it implies that if the Raiders hire a defensive minded coach, Al Saunders could stay at Oakland as OC. But if they hire an offensive minded coach, Saunders could be out...possibly going back to KC? It's all speculation though.

Well whoever the coach will be the head coach will bring in his own OC. Reggie already made that clear that the coach will be able to bring in anyone they want.

"Trouble in Raider Nation" by Mike Silver on PFT Live
« Reply #460 on: January 20, 2012, 04:15:28 PM »
Mike Silver is appalled that Mark Davis only interviewed one person for the GM position. He said he's also a big Hue Jackson fan, and wonders if the new coach will be better.

He also talks about his article that said Mark Davis wanted to clean house of people who witnessed Al Davis berating him.

Yeah, y should the raiders hurry up and sign a coach.  I'm sure the player love not knowing who their coach is.  let everyone else hire coaches and leave us with the left overs

As NFL head coaches.....Marty Mornhinweg, Mike Tice, and Dom Capers have a combined won/loss record of 85 wins, 140 losses.

Maybe a sharp, energetic college coach from a successful program might be better? Jim Harbaugh isn't having much trouble with his coaching transition to the NFL.

Tony Dungy in this interview on PFT Live included Chip Kelly on his short list of candidates if he need to fill an NFL head coaching position. He talks about this 3 minutes into the video.

I have a feeling, even though the headlines say "Head Coach", these meetings are for coordinator positions. I know McKenzie said that the next coach will be able to bring in his own coaches, but I'm sure they are making sure they do their due diligence by interviewing as many people as possible for many different coaching spots.

Just my opinion.
A reporter asked Davis about the efficancy of the team’s background checks considering Kiffin and Cable’s history:  “We’re very bad at it,” Davis said.

Awesome.

Marty Mornhinweg really????

Would he really be an upgrade over Hue,
I don’t think so.

This is getting kinda dumb as to who they are interviewing are they really trying to hide the fact that they wanted W. Moss or Capers.

We shall see

What?! The fact that he hired a GM is BRIGHT! Where have you been? Al never did this and we kept LOSING! come on!?

The fact he hired a GM isn't my problem.  The fact he hireda GM and gave him TOTAL control is.  Then there is the move to L.A. talk.  I don't see any football passion in Mark Davis.  Say what U want about AL.  He loved football.  Hell, I didn't even know he had a son until he passed.

...but we have to hire a head coach before we can go after any new coordinators. McKenzie wants to let our new head coach choose his coordinators....if there are any left by the time we get a head coach.  :o

In all seriousness, my hope is that we get a proven HC. In fact, to go a step further, I would want a HC who comes right in and demands respect.  I am a bit weary about position coaches taking the reins as a HC (i.e Moss, Bowles, Perry).  However, it seems Winston Moss has been ready to move up in this league for quite a while....but, he hasn't even been a DC yet.  He is listed as a Asst. HC, I am unsure what the hell that means...

I DO NOT want any unsuccessful retreads either.   Sorry Dom Capers, your Packers D sucked last night.

We need a guy who can (and will) grab players right by the mask and won't tolerate BS.  As we all know, this is a HIGHLY UNDISCIPLINED FOOTBALL TEAM.    Successful teams do not get the kind of penalties we get and win football games.    We need a coaching staff that doesn't take excuses on why the job is not getting done.  Hue was a "players' coach"....I don't want that shit.

Give me a guy like Coughlin, Cowher or Gruden anyday (or that same personality type at least.)
