OK, since this is a done deal and complaining won't do anything, I'll offer some positives as well. Knapp's previous term with the Raiders is no measure of his capabilities. When Knapp was here he had a bad team and awful QBing - JaWalrus, McCown, Andrew Walter, Culpepper.
For what it's worth, there were plenty of times in 2011 when Jackson's playcalling was unimaginative and ineffective. So I'm not sure what Jackson, Saunders, etc, bring to the table that Knapp can't.
When he was here, the leading receiver was freakin' Johnnie Lee Higgins. Face it, we had bad personnel. But, we averaged over 100 yards a game rushing - and that was with primarily Fargas (loved that guy).
What I am saying is, in an Al Davis run team, the OC is merely an assistant - the HEAD COACH calls the plays - Cable did it as well as Hue. The OC simply suggests plays and the HC chooses them. I am hoping that that Knapp will have the freedom to call his own plays within the scheme of what the HC wants - an explosive offense that relies primarily on running the football.
