So that 13 free agents down, and how many to go? Isn't that about half of what we had?

Seems like a day doesn't go by without someone being signed. I wish Nnamdi was on the list but I guess I have to accept the fact that the % of a Nnamdi return isn't likely.

Is it just me or does it not seem odd that the raiders seem like the only team resigning free agents? "coach" Davis has never been a follower and never cares what the others r doing but does it not seem odd?

o-line next year? LT Veldheer LG Loper C Satele RG Campbell RT Henderson?

That looks about right except the Henderson part.  I would like to see us re-sign Langston Walker. We played well last year and some competition at that spot wouldn't hurt.

I am still torn on the option of us selecting a QB. What's to say we don't end up utter shit this season and get first dibs on Andrew Luck next year? LMAO.  I kid nation, could not help myself.

The late round QB class is not very appealing so i hope we strengthen other areas as I'm sure Jason has a good few years in him!

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Raiders re-sign G Daniel Loper and RB Michael Bennett
« Reply #106 on: March 08, 2011, 03:38:16 PM »
Via National Football Post: Oakland has signed G Daniel Loper to a 2 year contract that will pay him $1.9 million in 2011 and $2.0 million in 2012. Looks like our replacement for Gallery is already here! Loper played well when he was called upon last season so I like that we kept him. Even if he ends up as a back up, he is a good one to have. Michael Bennett's contract is a 1 year for a base salary of $865,000. Another solid back up to have. The guy still moves well despite his age and he is a solid special teamer. A pair of good signings!

I have been looking at some of the mock drafts for our team and some post that we should draft a QB perhaps this year.

I say no.

 Thoughts?
I agree with you. I would hate to see a pick wasted on a QB in rounds 2 through 5 this year.  We have other immediate needs IMO. I don't mind taking a flyer late on someone late that we can develop.  Then again I'm not sure we've really ever developed a young QB draft choice into someone productive regardless of round.
Well, if Gradkowski doesn't end up on the team in 2011, we'll need to pick up a 3rd QB from somewhere. I guess that leaves free agency if we don't draft anyone. Who could we get or should we get in free agency?

I wonder what kind of shape Jeff George is in? ;)  Hey....what about J-Russ? :o
Jeff George would give his left nut for another tryout. Now if he was drinking tigerblood maybe we have a winner. 

Hearing rumors that the Cowboys are interested in Michael Huff. With Texas being his home state he could definitely head there. I know he's not a great safety, but hes a good safety and we cant afford to loose anymore starters this off season. If we do loose him, I would like to see us go after Iowa safety Tyler Sash. I've sen this kid play and the only thing he does is make big interceptions and big hits. We could use him on our defensive backfield.
We can NOT be a farm team like the Oakland A's!!!! We train them then at their prime trade them to another team......This will keep us from EVER reaching the Goal.....Why can't we keep a team together? Key players NEED to stay here and Huff daddy is one of those guys......Not great but good enough to get it done and he is still getting better.....It takes time to become a great DB.....Let's hope the Raiders are getting it done this season.....

Via Vito Tarfur:  Oakland has tendered center Samson Satele. No word which tender he received. I think we needed to keep him because the market is thin on centers and the draft only has a few good ones. I could see us drafting this years Combine workout warrior Ryan Bartholomew, to back up Satele.

I think the tradition of the Raiders is to always have a journeyman quarterback lead our team.  It seems like we can never draft a good kid anyways.  Sure, I'd like to have a tough kid like Colt McCoy but we would draft a kid who couldn't read defenses, is dumb as a box of rocks, and could chuck it 80 yards (i.e. JaWalrus).  Or off-fields issues - Marinovich.  There is also the picks that were not good - Tuiasosopo, Walter.

There are always hidden gems out in the NFL we can grab when Jason is done.  As for now, I'd like to have Jason QB our team for at least the next 2 years.  Thoughts?

Spot on Matty Raider...

have u noticed how many superbowls we've won & how few quarterbacks are in the hall of fame?

It's none... Teams like Dallas, San Francisco & New England will be defined by their hall of fame quarterbacks leading them to a championship... not Oakland. We will always be about a ground game with a quarterback who can chuck it deep & a healthy dose of man to man.

but still, taking a late flyer on a QB in this draft couldn't hurt?

Bruce is loose......

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/03/06/raiders-dont-tender-bruce-gradkowski/

good... Happy it happened.

Having him here will have the fans screaming for Jason's head after every loss. (when its not entirely his fault)

We will all have a soft spot for Bruce as he was the guy who replaced JaMarcus & showed there is light at the end of the tunnel... But his arm strength was a major hindrance on a team who's philosophy is always the vertical ball.

I'd like to take a rookie QB somewhere in this upcoming draft whom we can start to groom for the future. jason is here in OAK for a minimum of a year... Thinking towards a backup plan in 2012 is the best course of action.

I liked Bruce.  I always thought that he was a great backup QB, but now we don't have to keep talking about the Quarterback controversy that has come up the last few seasons.  I agree, draft a QB and train them for greatness... If they can throw an accurate long ball, the league is ours!

thanks, randy, for posting the links. i didn't remember smith, but that first article from the LA Times was really something. connecting that article to the murder charge 17 years later should be a real lesson for a lot of players. it should be mandatory reading for all incoming players ... and for jawalrus (if he can read).

We already have a young Santana Moss (Jacoby Ford).  Moss drops a lot of passes.  He also quit on the foreskins.  But maybe a change of location would get his game back.

TO ME, THE ONLY REASON SHARPE AND HIS ANNOYING LISP ARE GETTING IN IS BECAUSE HE WON 3 SUPER BOWLS.

PURE BULLSHIT.

Even if you were not going to put Brown in....... Carter deserved to go in before Sharpe did........ you can say that Brown is one of the top 3  WR's of  all-time......you cannot say that about Richard Dent......he did  not deserve to go in before Brown did either................COMPLETE  BULL............

Another stellar move by a moron for an owner...................I just think he wants anyone with ties to Cable gone..................................Mike Waufle will be the next to go....................................you watch.......anyne Cable picked or even recommended is gonna be out.................................
Maybe Al was an RNP listener during the season and heard Greg after one of our losses saying "coaching is everything...and our coaches stink! everyone needs to go...our players are good, it's the coaches that are bad...we need a whole new coaching staff!"  Al probably thought, "the Raida Nation thinks we need all new coaches...so I'll give them what they want". One possible problem. 27 free agents who liked the coaching staff? Be careful what you wish for :-\

Al Davis' logic: HOW DARE WE GET BETTER ON DEFENSE! I CANT LET THIS HAPPEN!
Well we all know that Al is the real offensive & defensive coordinator of this team anyway.

WOW! When does it end? So now no HC and no DC. And of course no word from the Raiders. Oh well.

Yes. Because as we have seen. Free agents love coming to teams with no real stability. And let's face it. Al has never been wrong when going after free agents. Other than Randy Moss, Aaron Brooks, DeAngelo Hall, Lamont Jordan, Kerry Collins, Ray Buchanan, Ted Washington, Warren Sapp, Amos Zereoue, Edward Jasper, Dominic Rhodes, Gerard Warren, Jeremy Newberry, Tim Dwight, Javon Walker, Ashley Lelie, Gibril Wilson, Charlie Frye, J.P. Losman, and Kyle Boller, to name a few.

Fucking laughing my ass off bro!...its funny, but sad at the same time that the Raiders have aquired so many players like the ones you listed...the scary part is that the list could keep going.  Dont forget about Jeff George!

Even with that.  There will be free agents available

These are a bunch of has been, never was, and old washed up free agents the Raiders have had over the past few seasons. All showed up, cashed Al's checks and were either dropped and never heard from again, retired, or remain on the current roster. These are the types of free agents we have been attracting as of late. With the exception of Samson Satele, Richard Seymour, and maybe Tommy Kelly (jury is still out) being free agents that panned out.

No stability does not bring in good free agents. It brings in the list I posted. And last time I checked none of those players had winning seasons with the Raiders. So stop pretending that having no stability in the organization has no affect on free agents. I just proved other wise.

Once again, Sully rears his ugly head to speak out against evil and wrongdoers with his operaetic (made that word up like I was Sarah Palin) bullshit.  The player don't sh!t on the raiders and I never said I got the info on Nnamdi's contract from a player.   He's got a hater virus that he wants to spread to other regarding myself.  When he can't produce evidence about factual information(i.e. Nnamdi's contract), he goes republican and changes the subject to attack my credibility.  He's probably like John Boehner and cries on the keyboard whenever he types a response.

As I stated before, I'm not here to toss anyone's salad.  If you don't like me, think I'm full of shit, a troll, it's not going to tangle the hair on my ballz.  There are all types of raider fans that make up raidernation.  None are above others.  No matter what I think or say about RaiderFat84 he is a great raider fan.  Hellraiders a great mask wearing raiderfan.  2 bad some let their give them the right to downplay others fandom and/or knowledge.  You SULLY don't know who I am, who I know nor what I know.  Show anyone here where I have lied about anything I have posted.  Nor have I ever questioned anyone else's knowledge or fandom.

Believe me Miller. You spread your own "hater-aid". From the moment you stepped into this forum you have been serving it in tall glasses. But I see you are playing the victim again, typical.

I can't produce factual evidence? Neither do you. You simply say, "Raider Fan until death, my info comes from a place other than the internet". So what place is this? This is you once again eluding to your supposed relationship with a Raider. If not, than what is this other source? I attack your credibility because it is bullshit. I am not changing the subject. Your pretend relationship with a Raider has always been the subject. You have told us about him pretty much from day one.

For not caring about what people think and for not getting you upset. You sure get upset and reply a lot.

Oh an operatic is a word.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/operatic
You did not make it up (though you did spell it wrong, shocker). But judging by your inability to spell. I guess all words are new to you.
