I fear the cutting of Routt might lead to the Raiders trying to downgrade payroll as opposed to win at any cost.

So far I've seen Mark Davis pay a inexperienced GM, a cheap unproven coach & now they cut the 2nd highest paid defender in Routt.(doesn't make Routt our 2nd best defender)

I'm hoping the Raiders are going to be movers & shakers this offseason, but I fear with the death of AL & the mentality that he'd pay what he needs to pay for best chance to win that McKenzie might just be clearing payroll because Mark Davis wants the team run like the Bucaneers as opposed to the Oakland "ALDAVIS" Raiders.

The flaw was taking a primarily man to man coverage corner and putting him in a zone defense and expecting the same results. Along with making you offensive line coach you defensive coordinator, which is what Philly did. This is not basketball or Madden. You can't make a dream team and expect it work right away. Yes the schemes didn't help Nnamdi in Philadelphia, just like the schemes didn't help Routt in Oakland. But I watched a lot of Philadelphia games & I saw quarterbacks not afraid to attack Nnamdi side.

Nnamdi started from 2005-2010. Jadummy started in 2008. Was benched most of 2009 and released in 2010. And even if what you said was true. The teams that were beating us had to put points on the board, and I am sure they did it by passing the ball and TD passes. But not too many of them came at the expenses of Nnaamdi that is for sure. It's not Nnamdis fault for the lackluster performance by Norv, Lane & Cable coached teams... As I said before he was never put in a position to constantly lockdown a wide receiver because the raiders were trying to defend our opposition running game.

I listed 7 games (@DEN, @BUF, vNYJ, vCLE, vDEN, @SD, vMIN, vDET) where Oakland had to focus on defending the pass because teams were trailing on the scoreboard (& that's not even mentioning the games where we had to focus on elite QB play this year from the likes of Brady, Schuab & Rodgers where those Offenses have been primarily passing teams.

Nnamdi would of seen his fair share of elite QB's in Oakland jersey.. But Nnamdi would of seen some very conservative plays been called by opponents Offensive Co-Ordinators.

But how many TD's did he give up? INT's don't always equal wins. But giving up too many TD's does result in losing.

I agree with that statement bro... But I will say that Routt not necessarily responsible for giving up 9 td's... Chuck Bresnahan was awful.. No 2 ways about it.

I think it's great he got those INT's. But that doesn't mean he earned his contract. This is the issue. It's performing to your contract. He didn't and was cut. That is how the NFL works. No different than when a player out plays his contract and wants a new one. I can't see why they would not have asked Routt to restructure. So if they did and he said no, than this was the best option.

Nnamdi was a great cornerback for the Raiders... But the statistics were flawed when Raiders propaganda stated that teams would only throw in his direction once or twice a game.

That flaw has been exposed when he goes to Philadelphia & gives up big plays.

(I remember way more Raiders leads in the 2011 season then when the Raiders led on the scoreboard in 2010) ... Now Routt was payed a lot of dollars & I agree he is not worth that contract. But when did Nnamdi ever play that many games with his team leading on the scoreboard???

This team needs a rebuild. If you think this team was on it's way to a Super Bowl you are the one that needs to detox. We have been screaming for years to get a GM. We got one. One that came with VERY high praise from many people all over the league and those who were trusted by Al Davis. Getting rid of a shitty CB who was on the Al Davis Scholarship Program is exactly why we needed a GM. Too many player were signed by Al with big money contracts that never earned it. This is a great message sent to the rest of the team.

Some of the salaries the Raiders have traditionally given out have been whack alright.
Routt was a decent player but not a top 5 CB.
He'll probably get a big paycheck with another team but not a similar contract.
Some of the other Raiders players have to be thinking soooo long and they won’t be making that kind of money anywhere else.

I just hope that Mackenzie doesn’t get to the point where he is just cutting and cutting and getting journeymen to fill the most critical spots. SOMETIMES you do have to pay to get that player who can make a difference.

Denver will be better whether we like that or not and SD won't go away anytime soon and KC pushed us to the brink in KC that last game we had to win to keep the season alive...if it weren't for Seymour's blocked FG's.... week 17 couldn't of meant shit!  We could of lost as many games as we won this year! Houston,KC,CHI,DEN So I am not so optimistic now that are team is functioning like a EXPANSION team now and apparently the Raiders are bringing in more Denver personnel.. I just don't see us getting much for DMAC for the reasons said before. He gets injured too much. It's no secret to the rest of the league. But I do remember the last home grown player that got injured too much that we got rid of. Charles Woodson ring a bell? But no big deal there. I mean his career went in the shitter after leaving Oakland. I mean no one talks about him anymore.  Getting rid of DMAC now is too soon and I don't think would garner as many draft picks as one might think.

I agree with Raider Greg that Hue used DMAC too much. We have Bush for a reason. Any other team that guy is a starter. No reason you can't split the carries with these guys and it helps keeps DMAC healthy and Bush from getting run down come the later par of the season. This league proves over and over that you need a two back system. St. Louis is the only place that comes to mind that does it with one back. And while Stephen Jackson is great. His team is not exactly lighting up the NFL right now.

If there is a player on the roster that we can perhaps get some trade value for it is Ford. I know this guy is loved and is great. But that is the point. He is a great return guy and an up and coming WR. We have Moore who I think is even better and DHB is showing he can start to play (though drafting what was thought to be a speedy wideout only to find out he is a possession receiver is a bit maddening). We can afford to lose Ford in my opinion and may get a few later round draft picks for him. After watching the 49ers's last game you can't tell me they couldn't use a reliable WR. There are other teams that may be looking for that too.

Someone asked Steve Corkran in the Tuesday live chat what he thought we could get for DMac in a trade, draftwise......and he said, "a late 1st rounder". I don't know if that would be considered "a King's ransom". Probably not. I think I'd rather have the known commodity in McFadden than say the 27th pick in the draft (a "crap shoot").

I know McKenzie has traded down in the draft before to get more picks. He likes lots of picks, since they don't all pan out. Maybe he could turn a late 1st round pick into two 2nd rounders? Would that be worth it for McFadden? I don't have that draft points chart handy...I'm not sure what a late 1st rounder would convert to in a trade down.

Mcfadden is the only player on our roster who we could get some good picks for........besides, tell me where we would have been last year if we did not have Bush........Jones was hurt and you are honestly going to tell me that you would have wanted Cartwright running the ball 15-20 times a game........dont get me wrong.....mcfadden is great but he will never play a full season......the stats dont lie.............Mckenzie is not happy coming to a team that has only a 5th and a 6th round pick.......its gonna happen.......if it is not mcfadden then it will be someone else........the only way for us to get some picks will be through trading current players we have now............and if we dont pick up anyone from the draft then we are screwed because we simply dont have the talent on defense to win games..........every person in our secondary sucks except for branch..........

A late 1st rounder is worth between 600-700 points, which would get you two late 2nd rounders.........or........one early 2nd rounder plus a mid-3rd rounder.

Maybe a team that has an early pick in each round, who needs a good RB, would give us their early 2nd and early 3rd round pick for McFadden. Would that be worth it? Or one of the top teams this year, who has their picks late....might give us their late 1st rounder? We could use it or trade it.
