Dennis Allen could go 2-14... But I don't think Reggie would fire him. He's the handpicked guy, plus he is a young'un.

What scares me is Dennis Allen is the next Rahim Mooris (defensive back coach) Rahim Morris had his Bucs with a 4-12 record or something like that in 2010 & he followed it up with a even more stinkier season the next year.

If Dennis Allen loses, then he will lose the respectability in the locker room.

Sorry to sound like a negative Nate.... I believe we will win this weekend. We have too. Just giving 2 cents on the young coaches out of their depth.

You mean Raider Mike is our shining light? Our hope? Our optimist?
Right on Mike! I need some hope!

I felt like crap after the game myself....but I re-watched it on my DVR the next day. Didn't look as bad as I had remembered. We were very much in it (within 7 points) until that blocked punt. That's what turned the game around. We had plenty of screw-ups before that, but were battling and staying in it. Yeah, granted....San Diego wasn't all that great, and the crowd noise helped us a lot.....until we got behind and the crowd got taken out of it....and we know the Raiders haven't been a good come-from-behind team for a LONG time.

Palmer threw too many balls that were either a little short or a little long....and our receivers dropped several that would have continued our drives....but we did make some good plays. McFadden looked good until he got overused and San Diego started keying on him. We didn't have enough other weapons. Sucks that Jacoby Ford had to have surgery. Good thing Moore is coming back. Hope he is healthy and stays that way. I have my doubts.

What did you think about Knapp's play calling? I liked the crossing patterns to McFadden and getting him the ball in space. Some of the intermediate passes were good. Palmer throws to a spot though....and the receivers were too often not in that spot when the ball arrived. Too many plays where the defender had just as good a chance at getting the ball as the receiver.

Yeah, 15 more games. Too late to abandon the zone running scheme and switch back to power running...after gearing up for that offense all off-season. Gotta just go with it now. Let's hope that we improve quickly and find a way to overcome the problems, injuries, etc. This repeating story every season is getting TOO old!   :(    We have a new regime, and hopefully they will bring about a change for the better. But like Greg said, if we do have a crappy record this season, Reggie will have his prized picks next year. As long as he doesn't pick another JaMarcus Russell. Actually, if we did have a high 1st round pick like that, I'll bet Reggie would trade it for multiple lower picks. I've heard he likes quantity...since not all picks pan out....he plays the odds that at least MOST of them will be good ones. I don't think he likes to put all of his eggs in one basket.
Yeah Randy I think you covered it all on that post!  I feel the same way...even thou I am still pissed about Reggie hiring Dennis Allen... I think he's a whimp and foils under pressure... When Gruden became coach you could immediately feel the changes in the team... the way they fought hard the perfect execution of pre-snap shifts on offense... Gruden was the Pioneer on getting mis-matches in the west coast offense with shifting around players etc.... We won 2 8-8 years followed with a 12-4 and 10-6 the next 2! So far were 0-2 and feel dead!

But my past experinces in watching football I know so much can change by the end of the year!  I mean can anyone on this site please admit they knew the NYG were going to win the SB after their shitty start and 9-7 record?  NO!  So anything can happen... But the only thing that shakes my confidence is Dennis Allen! I think he doesn't have what it takes to win a SB he already seems scared and further behind the coaching curve then most aspiring upcoming rookie HC.... I like Reggie!  I am glad we got a real GM now there is no denying that fact... But his first hire of HC was a mistake! The choice should have been Gruden. They had GB ties and he would have made a huge difference right away, maybe even directed us to a 2-0 start not 0-2... Cause both games we lost believe it or not were realistically winnable! Like you said about the SD game we were in it till mid 3rd QTR and last week Vs MIA we had a 10-7 lead!.. .With this talent and team Gruden would have gotten those wins.... I can't wait around for a rookie coach to learn how to win in the NFL!..... That is why this team should have brought home Chuckie... oh well... Let's see what happens.... Dennis Allen has 14 games left. He gets to 8-8 he survives next year, if not.... it's going to be a long abyss of losing and experimenting.

Just for Greg, the Raiders signed CB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, and re-signed Vaughn Meatoga. What's more Raider than a meat toga? But Chimdi Chekwa stays on the practice squad. How bad is he that he can't get on the field while other players are hurt and the team is desperate at CB? We need a backfield of Asomugha, Chekwa, Owusu-Ansah, and Ndukwe. Epic. Any I'm missing?

Hey guys let's not hit the panic button yet.... LOTS OF FOOTBALL to be played and I think we'll be fine.... The SD game was a debacle and shame no doubt... But I promised myself I'd give this team a chance ...16 games... they got 15 left.... Let's wait and see and be patient and not call it the season just yet..... Moore comes back and Palmer throws to other receivers  other then DMC... We can win games.... this 5 game stretch ahead is BRUTAL!... @MIA,Vs PITT,@DEN,@ATL,Vs JAX ...So a steep hill to climb but if we can escape too 4-4 by the half way mark we could make it still... Wait and see... sucks

With Ford and Bartell now out for who know how long, it is really time to bring in a vet and at least one fo the se positions. Im not sure who. Dont know if Plaxico got picked up yet and i really dont want to say Chad Johnsons name but anything will help Palmer at this point. CBs are thin in the NFL right now so we might be stuck there. Hopefully somethign will happen soon.

I hear you.  Some moves need to be made.  Plax is worth bringing in just for a red zone threat.  As for Chad Johnson, a media circus I could do without.  A suspension is looming as well for him...he is way beyond damaged goods.

Sorry folks..... This is our team and it aint gettin any better this season..... REBULDING AGAIN!! How many fuckin times are we gonna rebuild? I am sick and fuckin tired of rebuilding every fuckin season..... Look the Raiders have already looked at these clowns and are NOT moving in that direction..... We are who we are and this season we are a 4 or 5 win team at best.... Oh and Palmer will most likely be hurt... and DMC is in his second to last year of contract.... He will be gone next year...... The Draft is where we will get our new team from..... FUCK!

More good news......Ford is out for foot surgery and Bartell has a broken left shoulderblade (maybe back in six weeks).

I am trying to stay positive but this team breaks my heart every freakin' year  :-\

Good pick up for depth and he is reliable with no issues. Love the way this org is doing things!!!!

That is great news. It will be nice to have a veteran Wide Receiver on the team with no baggage and that has also worked in successful programs. I like this pick up at Tackle as well. We just acquired Willie Smith after he was let go by the Redskins.

UM.... so the 49ers cut Rock Cartwright. I def think we should bring him back. He would be RB depth as well as he was a MONSTER on special teams and we are CLEARLY hurting in that dept.. What yall think?

I agree.

The winds of Change are definitely in Oakland. Chimdi on the Practice squad, DVD waived today. Two draft picks from last year.

The GM and Coaches want to win now! A definite change in the philosophy that was once there.

Definitely.  DVD cut?  Could hardly believe it.

It was bound to happen, especially with the emergence of Criner thus far.

This is actually a good move for the Raiders and Panthers in my opinion.  They could really use him and he would be buried on the depth chart for us.  And lets be honest...he hasn't been much of a contributor for a while now.

Agreed and at least we got something for him. May well have been cut anyway.

He did ok, made some plays (@Pittsburgh :)) and always worked hard but, like Schilens, we should be easily able to manage without him.

I wish him well.

This is an insight into how good our WR core is! I think that this portion of our offense is way under rated and will prove problems for other teams because like ESPN They wont see it coming..... OH YEA BABY.... HERE WE COME!

Has DHB turned out to be a better pick for the Raiders than Crabtree?
« Reply #871 on: July 03, 2012, 05:13:45 PM »
I heard this being discussed today on 95.7 The Game. They brought out some good points.

• Crabtree not seen as a "team player" on the 49ers
• DHB is a great team player

They talked about Crabtree dropping out of the Alex Smith organized off-season sessions, saying that his foot hurt. When told that his QB commented that he didn't know what was up with him, Crabtree "threw Smith under the bus" by asking, "well, who IS our quarterback anyway?" This was one example of him not being a team player.

• Crabtree is not fast and will only get slower with age
• DHB is fast

Not much to say on this one.

• Crabtree supposedly has good hands but isn't that great at creating separation
• DHB drops some balls (has improved a lot though)....and he can separate well

The hosts of the radio show agreed that they would rather have a receiver with not the greatest hands who can separate over one with good hands but can't separate.

They discussed other things related to these two players, but I can't remember all of it. The bottom line was that maybe old Al Davis chose the right guy after all, even though he got a lot of criticism for picking DHB "too high".
