Say it ain't so  :-[

I know the pundits will always look for a "hidden" motive, but I just the story is true and Wiz simply wants to spend more time with his family.  He is not completely removed from the Raiders organization at least.  One of the other articles I read stated he would be "a game day Coach."

Not sure if folks have read this but it's a gr8 read written by a former raider and his observations of Charles Woodson.

http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/1222913-charles-woodson-ex-teammate-on-a-future-hall-of-famer-part-2-of-a-series

GREAT READ!! This gives some insight to what we all were seeing that season... A fractured team with no head.... Norv Turner is a Bafoon as a leader and that team was left to egos and huge paychecks as inspiration. We could all see it.... We ALL knew that the talent was there to be great but........... The failure of leadership was clear in their play on the field. This is why I thought Woodson left and this proves the point.... Thank God we have a changed organization.... WE now have the "Will to win" back in the building!

Good article - Richard Seymour says that Dennis Allen has what most coaches don't - the "it" factor - goes on to say the last time we had a guy like that it was Chucky.

Raiders ready to run 'real defense'
Bill Williamson, ESPN

Hey Huff, maybe you could try making some real tackles instead of the floppy armed bs you've delivered so far.

Man up and take responsibility for your own shortcomings instead of blaming a guy who ain't around to defend himself.

Hayes chuckled, saying, "We didn't have any guidelines. You could actually lead with your face mask (as a defender) -- putting your face mask on an opposing player's face mask, without a $15,000 fine. You could throw a forearm shiver to the throat...

Oakland ranked #5 of "The 45 Places to Go in 2012" - New York Times Travel

This was a surprising tidbit I ran across. Oakland ranked #5 in the New York Times Travel feature "The 45 Places to Go in 2012"........in between #4 London and #6 Tokyo. Oakland was the highest ranked North American city on the list. My town!

"45 Places To Go In 2012" -  Oakland #5 on list

A couple more notable distinctions for Oakland:

"Oakland - 4th Most Fit City In America"

and

"Oakland - California’s 2nd Most Literate City and 15th in the Nation"

Re: Bush
« Reply #147 on: February 23, 2012, 02:02:33 PM »
According to that interview with Corkran, looks like Bush might be leaving.  The Raiders, under the radar, signed a talented kid named Lonyae Miller who played ball at Fresno State.  He's a big kid, 6'0'', 232 lbs.  Perhaps he will be the Bush replacement?  I am trying to be optimistic but there are so many backs in the league who are or have been hidden gems.  What I am sure of is that Mckenzie will want depth, he's been around long enough to know that.

I understand the frustration with McFadden and I know this topic has been beaten half to death but in my opinion, DMAC is the best back in the league when healthy.  Yup, I said it - better than AP, Ray Rice, Foster or LeSean McCoy.  There is not a back who has his speed and cutting ability that also runs that hard.  More than that, he gives you 110% when he is on the field.  (He is also going to be playing for a contract let's not forget.)

Bush wants to be a starter in the NFL.  Could you blame him?  He's tired of being #2.  I know we want to keep him but the way he plays he is completely run down the last third of the season when given the lion's share of carries.  Yes, I know we should have alternated between the two but we can thank our former HC for the inability to to comprehend that...perhaps he was too busy with the "best trade in football."

Bottom line is our players' salaries are so f'd up....it's frustrating.....huge salaries with little production.

Live Tuesday online chat with Raiders beat writer Steve Corkran (Transcript)
This is always worthwhile reading. Yesterday's chat had a lot of Q & A about  possible free agent acquisitions, who Steve thinks will be the next players to be cut, plus many other topics.....including a few questions about Stanford Routt and John Herrera leaving the team.

http://www.ibabuzz.com/oaklandraiders/2012/02/21/raiders-live-chat-today-at-1-p-m-2/

Here are a few questions and answers from the chat:

Question From Dan78: Do you think Raiders will sign Brandon Carr
Steve Corkran: Long-shot. He won't come cheap, certainly more than what the Chiefs paid Stanford Routt.

Question From RaiderNY: What's your gut say: resign/tag Branch and/or tag Bush?
Steve Corkran: I say, the Raiders re-sign Tyvon Branch to a long-term deal and let Michael Bush walk.

Question From resignedidealist: So, is this going to be a rebuilding year, or can we expect playoffs?
Steve Corkran: McKenzie and first-year coach Dennis Allen will say playoffs. The lack of draft picks, lack of salary-cap space, tough schedule and new coaching staff says rebuilding year.

Question From RaiderRodney Steve, I've read here the Raiders are interested in remaining in the coliseum if it gets overhauled. Does that hinge on the coliseum operators paying for all of that? Or are Raiders expecting to foot some of the bill?
Steve Corkran: The money will come from both parties. Nothing is likely to happen until the A's situation is resolved. If the A's relocate to San Jose, the Raiders stand a better chance of getting something done soon thereafter.

Question From ACONDO: Who do you think is the next to go?
Steve Corkran: Michael Bush won't be franchise-tagged and Kamerion Wimbley will be released, unless he agrees to a restructured deal.

Question From PT: What are the odds you'd put on the Raiders releasing Wimbley?
Steve Corkran: Better than 70 percent, unless he reworks his deal. Too expensive to keep around at $11 million for 2012.

Question From Guest: Trevor Scott, will he return next year. I would think he'd be better suited for a 3-4.
Steve Corkran: Do not expect to see Trevor Scott back next season.

Question From Darth Raider: Who will be franchised?
Steve Corkran: I say no one. Michael Bush will hit free agency and sign elsewhere, Tyvon Branch will sigh a multi-year extension.

Question From R8DRN8TN: Are you ever gonna get Amy Trask on for the chats?
Steve Corkran: I asked her last year, and she said she is considering the offer.

Let me tell  you something..........if we let Bush walk then I will not give Mckenzie any chances until he gets fired.........If we lose Bush then we are done.............Mcfadden is a girl and Jones cannot tote the note........Reggie will be done in my eyes.............................he obviously will not have any eye for talent and we will suck forever.....Bush is the best RB we have.......not MCHURT............................!

We are going to let him go............. I know it's fucked up and everything but he is going because the new owner will NOT spend the money on players like Al did...... Mark is going to start using the cash from players checks to put in the bank........ That's how its done in the "New" NFL..... The big business has now landed the last team in the NFL that was more about players than the corporation.... We now will need to make more money to spend. more money...... The Raiders cut my season tickets price from 1550.00 to 1250.00 for the 2012 season. Why?.......They need more money..... More tickets sold the better.... Look....The Raiders have no more money going out for the Coliseum..... it's all profit for them so.... Sell more tickets cheaper and pile up the cash..... worry about the team in 2 years when we have some cash..... I'm paranoid but it could be what's going on...... As long as they're here I will go and see them...... Nothin like it Bro....

While we are looking at improving our team the bronc-a-hoes however are destroying whatever talent they have left. They let their WR Loyd go to the Rams. Who's T-bow gonna throw it to now? Guess he'll just have to run. . . I love it!

I think it is a good trade, but i think it might be another washed up first round pick. On the postive he has to be kinda good he was one of the highest picked LB in history.  Whats the count now like 3 picks in next years draft.

The Browns thought Wimbley was a washed up pick and he's a beast.  Let's hope Curry turns into a monster.

As for our draft picks, it is a bit discouraging to be trading a bunch of them.  I am hoping we can pick up some nice Free Agents after a successful season that (hopefully) creates a organization players want to play for around the league.  I already think we are getting there....
