Well another coach goes else where....and that coach is Mike Waufle, he's headed to the rams.

I'm glad that we dodged that bullet!

Go Raiders!

You didn't like Mike Waulfe?

He's regarded as one of the premier Defensive Line coaches in the league.

You couldn't tell by our defensive line but then again, that has a lot to do with Chuck Breshnahan.

An interesting read. Let's hope he is able to repeat the GB way in Oakland.

Bears to interview Jimmy Raye for GM
« Reply #60 on: January 17, 2012, 02:56:50 PM »
When I saw this headline, "Bears to interview Jimmy Raye for GM"

I thought they meant the former offensive coordinator for the Jets, Raiders and 49ers:

Who Raider Greg used to refer to as Jimmy "I can't see the field from here" Raye

but they actually meant the Chargers current Director of Player Personnel….a different guy altogether

I was thinking how interesting Greg's podcast would have been if the Raiders had interviewed the original Jimmy Raye for our GM! Hey, maybe he's available for head coach!

My opinion on Hue's firing is that when they met I think McKenzie just wanted to prod him a bit and see the results.  I don't think he came in 100% sure Hue was gone.  I bet Hue's big ego sealed the deal.  This is just speculation on my part but I feel McKenzie came out of that meeting feeling like Hue's attitude would do more harm than good in changing the culture in locker room.

Agreed with ya!

Some interesting articles that offer a different perspective with regards to Hue, Reggie, and Mark Davis.

Jackson says Raiders owner made call to fire him
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ms-silver_hue_jackson_raiders_fired_011012

Raiders owner Mark Davis is in over his head
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ms-silver_oakland_raiders_hue_jackson_mark_davis_011112

The real reason Jackson's gone
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/hue-jackson-hubris-not-racism-got-him-fired-by-oakland-raiders-011211

My immediate opinion of those three articles is that the first two are bollocks and the third makes sense.  Obviously Mark Davis wasn't going to include Jackson in the search for a GM, Davis knew that the GM would want to pick a HC and stipulating that Jackson must stay would probably have compromised the list of people willing to take the GM job.

If the comments in the thrid article are true about Silver being hated by Al, then that just makes his article look like a cheep & blatent attack on the new management.  As for the derogitory comments suposedly made by Al towards Mark, these are taken so far out of centext that no-one has any idea how they were intended.  How many people here have told a friend or loved one to fuck off with it being no more than a joke?  We have no way of knowing how those comments were delivered or how they were intended.  I vote Silver for Asshole of the Week.

Man, if that article by Silver is true about how Al Davis treated his son, then that really makes me loose a ton of respect for Al as father and as a man.  If Al was truly belittling his son like that in front of Raider players/employees then it makes all the sense in the world why Mark Davis comes across as someone who seems unsure of himself and lacks confidence.  Again, I preface this by saying IF, if this account of Al continually bashing his son is true, then its Al's fault that his son is incompetent in his ability to be a GM or even to have  a sharp "football mind"...Al should have taken him under his wing and shown him how to see things how he saw them as opposed to telling him to "get the fuck outta here"...

i never realised he was Raleigh McKenzie's twin brother by the way.

Is it too early to start calling him "Freckles" ?  :-\

I was not overly impressed with him in the press conference........I liked what he had to say but I think he is very lacking in the public speaking department.......Luckily we dont pay him to deliver speeches and converse with the radio and tv types......I think he will be good for our team......I WILL SAY THIS......IF HE GETS RID OF CARSON....THEN HE IS DEAD TO ME...........(NOT THAT HE CARES ONE BIT OF WHAT I THINK )!!!!

I guess i could be reading too much into it

Just don't want another big ego thinking it's all about "me, me, me"

Be interesting to see how the interview process develops and who he can attract.

I'm not a massive fan of Hue Jackson , and he probably deserved to go for failing to win a division that was basically laid on a plater for us .

That being said , I'm not sure about these comments from McKenzie

McKenzie said he made the call to fire Jackson, primarily because he wanted to hand-pick the team's coach.

"This decision centered around my wanting to bring my own guy in," McKenzie said Tuesday. "That's the main point.

Surely the main point should be doing what is best for the organisation ? , not just showing that you can throw your weight around if you want to ?

I think Reggie McKenzie is going to do what he knows and I think we have to trust him to do that at least at the outset.  He is obviously coming from an organisational system that works exceptionally well and he feels that getting a similar system in place at the Raiders is going to help.

Greg has said many times that the responsibility has to start at the top, well this guy is now the top.  For sure he is not Al Davis and he is going to want to do things differently, so I don't think firing Jackson was simply a case of showing who the new boss is.  But things do need to change and we need to give this guy a chance to see if he can change them.

I don't know what you guys are all talking about. There's nothing wrong with Mark Davis' cut. Maybe a little too short in the front, but that will grow out.

I was just thinking do rich people use porcilean bowls when they get bowl cuts?

Having just watched yesterday's press conference I can safely say that I was not impressed by either Mark Davis' Circus style haircut or Reggie McKenzie's performance in front of camera.

Hue Jackson said spoke too much and Reggie Jackson just struggles to speak!

Wow, I was so pissed at the way the season ended that I had no intention to post anything until next season....that is why I have not posted anything in over a month......I do not think hiring a Green Bay assistant will be  a good choice....they have never coached anything in a head football capacity.....one thing for sure....now that Al is gone we will have the opportunity to go out and get real honest to god Coaches with real credibility.....However, with us not drafting until 2013 we will have to run out the same old team next season who could not stay out of the trainers room..............Unless we can somehow trade players for some picks......for starters we should trade Mcfadden and dump Pryor........Mcfadden is not built to play a 16 game season....offer him to Dallas.........Jones would trade the moon for him...............HELL, he traded 3 draft picks for Roy Williams to Detroit.............

Which is y I'm suprised Jackson was dumped.  U can't rebuild next year, you have no draft picks.  The raiders were 7-3 before the Campbell injury.  What does this do to Carson Palmer?  Unless he is cut, Campbell will move to a team like the seahawks who need a starting QB.  What star coach would enter this situation.  Raiders still won't pay big money for a big money coach.  You don't fire a coach the 1st day on our job unless U already have someone ready to step in.  Raider Greg and Randy get ready to wear black and silver cheese on your head.  McK will attempt 2 mimic the Green Bay system.  Problem is we don't have the green bay talent and it will take time to develop that.  If I were Hue, I would take that knife out of my back planted by Mark Davis.  Yes, Mark Davis.  As a owner, he could have instructed McK to give Hue a season.  For McK to fire Mr. Bubbles on day 1 meant Mark Davis already knew it would happen when he hired McK and he didn't have Jackson any warning.  That is FUCKED UP

Wow, hell yes I'm a little surprised myself on the move.  But I think that means only one thing...he does have a big name proven coach in mind.  If that's true I have no problem with Hue being shown the door.

He will bring in a Green Bay Assistant.  So much for Mark Davis being like Al.  Hue was Al's choice. To dump him after the injury plagued season they had and still went 8-8 after looking so good until campbell was hurt gives new meaning to NFL = Not for long.

Now HueJax can focus on actually just coaching. Nowadays it is so tough to be GM/HC in this league. Together they can attract a solid DC. Moss could be one, bit I would rather prefer a proven one like Spagnoulo or Jack del Rio is he still want to coach a a lesser position. Also Sparano could be a catch!

Pride & Poise!!!

Agreed....and I'd be ok with Woodson staying as the DB coach as well.  Given Bres's sorry playcalling you can only do so much :/

Yo fellas!!! I know one thing....As for me.....I pray he has "TOTAL" control....Like to fire John Hurrera...(loser).... And anyone else that has been hanging at the feeding trough...... THERE IS WAY TOOOOOOO MUCH DEAD WEIGHT THAT HAS KEPT THIS TEAM FROM MOVING FORWARD.....OH AND AS FOR BRINGING THE RAIDERS BACK TO "PAST" GLORY...... WE HAVE HERD THIS CRAP FROM EVERY BONE HEAD FOR YEARS....... I WANT HIM TO SAY....WE WILL BUILD A TEAM THAT WILL MAKE A NEW GENERATION OF RAIDERS PROUD OF THIS TIME....THIS TEAM AND THIS FRANCHISE......THAT WILL BE REMEMBERED AS THE BEST ORGANIZATION EVER!...... NOT TRY TO BLOW SMOKE UP THE OLD PIE HOLE.......ONE THING IS FOR SURE.... HE MUST HAVE TOTAL CONTROL.........TOTAL!

AMEN!

A lot of speculation about what is going on. Who’s fired, who’s staying.

All I want is a new defensive coordinator!
Beikert, Woodson need to stay!

Go Raiders

Can we ALL write and sign a letter to Mr. Reggie to tell him to please get rid of John EFFING Herrera. He is the one bad soul in our orginization that makes us look bad and handles every situation horribly. On another note, Hue is great with the offense and coaching if that is the only thing he has to worry about. We did not start going downhill until Mr. Davis passed cuz it seemed Hue had too much on his plate. As for DC, Moss or Del Rio would make such a huge impact and I would hope they would consider bringing Woodson back. He did all he could given that Chuck was calling the worst defensive plays in every scenario. I think with a good DC Woodson would shine coaching our DB's.

Is this THE Senor Raider?

This isn't the Señor Raider that goes to the home games, it's the Señor Raider that calls into the Boneline from Mexico City I believe.

IF MCKENZIE GIVE HUE THE BOOT, THIS RAIDER FAN IS OKAY WITH IT, AS LONG AS WE GET A BONAFIED QUALITY HEAD COACH, LIKE GRUDEN...WE HAVE MANY OPTIONS NOW LETS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM ;D ;D
I think we will bing in Winston moss at DC then if hue doesn't work out then he will be promoted to head coach.... But hue has done wonders and will continue to do so in the future!
I LIKE THAT IDEA...MCKENZIE  & MOSS HAVE HISTORY IN GREEN BAY AND WHO KNOWS BETTER OF WHAT RAIDER DEFENSIVE FOOTBALL IS ALL ABOUT THAN W. MOSS...PROMOTE MOSS TO D.C...I'M DOWN WIT THAT! ;D
