Does he have concerning gang ties? Bay Area reporter Monte Poole says he went to San Quentin prison three years ago with DeSean to visit the inmates. He wrote this interesting article about the event entitied, "DeSean Jackson Walks With Gangsters". Read it if you haven't already and see what you think about DeSean and his "gang ties".

After reading the article, I have to say that I wouldn't be concerned. He seems to understand the consequences of gang-related behavior and is aware that he shouldn't go there (and empathizes with people who have gotten caught up in it). I can understand why the Eagles released him -- it's an image thing -- but if he landed with the Raiders, I'd be fine with it.

I feel the same way you do Raider G, after reading the article. Latest reports say Jackson has an interest in the Raiders, they were his favorite team growing up, he went to school nearby at Cal, etc. I hope the Raiders go for it.

I still don't understand though how the media keeps talking about how much cap money we have and how we can afford to offer him more than other teams. We have about $14 Million cap space left I believe, and we still have to sign whoever we draft. Does that seem like we have plenty of money to offer him, more than other teams?

I read we have an adjusted $19 million cap space available.

Thanks Oscar. I hope that is the accurate, up-to-date figure. The two sites I have below show different numbers, maybe out of date?

SpoTrac shows $15,454,199:                  http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/oakland-raiders/

OverTheCap.com shows $14,681,081:     http://overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Raiders&Year=2014
