I just want to say... I'll wait patiently until 2 years pass and we Average 4-5 wins a year and say... YOU WANTED THIS!  and it's no longer "Commitment to Excellence" it's more accurate to say... "Commitment to SALARY CAP"

Hey Mike, just out of curiosity, what would you rather have happened?

Continue to pay dead money?
Continue to pay bloated contracts for underachieving players?
Pin our future on free agents that are basically here for their bounty because we haven't done better than 8-8 in over a decade?

Sure, I'd love to get a coach of some stature in here.  We all do!  You don't attract coaches with the dysfunction we have had.

I am hoping we can turn it around.

As I said in my post Matt...I'll be back in 2 Years when nothing happens and tell YOU....that you wanted this!

Quietly, RM is building a team of underachievers on our football team.  Cast-offs with heart and a passion for the game.  Love the signings of Jenkins, Porter, Roach and Carter.  John Clayton reported that Oakland will have 70 MILLION in cap space next year.  I know there are differing opinions on this board, but clearing the dead money and over-achieving players in two off-seasons is nothing short of remarkable.

As for me, there is NOT ONE player I was sad to see go.  Huff, Wimbley, DHB, Seymour, Goodson, Palmer, the list goes on.  They are all expendable.  For me, there are ONLY THREE guys on this team from the old guard that we should keep - Branch, Jano and DMAC.  As for McFadden, it's his contract year......if he doesn't produce or stay healthy, he's gone.  Bottom line.

I know a lot of fans wonder why we don't get big name coaches, players, etc.  Well, we haven't won DICK in over a decade.  This organization was so dysfunctional....if you were Bill Cowher, would you want to come here?  We are finally getting the stability we have desperately wanted for YEARS.

These players will play because they will be given contracts next off-season if they perform.

I think McKenzie knows EXACTLY what he is doing.  This is how the big boys do it - the teams that win consistently year in and year out.  They build from the draft.  The Free Agency high risk Al days are over.

As a Raider fan, I am all in for Reggie McKenzie.............as for Dennis Allen, not so much  :(

Pretty much sums it up although......add Wiz and Veldheer to the keep list?

Yes, definitely keepers.

Nnamdi signs with 49ers
« Reply #210 on: April 03, 2013, 12:43:20 PM »
He's the best corner we have right now. Hope he can stay healthy and play like he did with Dennis Allen in NO.

REGGIE: please tell me you at least gave Nnamdi a call? I get he may want to play w/a contender but the ninners got him for 500k less then porter? Hope u atleast gave a courtesy call :-)

http://m.oaklandtribune.com/oaklandtribune/db_308994/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=tTD7fSGJ

Give Nnamdi a call and ask him how he likes the Red Jersey and the "Butterscotch Punk Pants"? (as I've heard the 49ers uniforms referred to...)

Yeah, Nnamdi's deal was pretty reasonable...."The contract has no guaranteed money. Asomugha is due to earn a base package of $1.35 million with salary and bonuses, and could make an additional $1.65 million in incentives for playing time, awards such as the Pro Bowl and reaching the playoffs..."He believes in karma and timing," ...He wants to show everybody it's not about the money for him. He wants to prove something. He could have walked away and retired. He wants to play for a winner..."

Raiders Add Former First-Round Offensive Tackle Alex Barron
Raiders.com

The Oakland Raiders have signed 6' 8", 315 lb. veteran free agent tackle Alex Barron, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Tuesday.

Barron, a former first-round draft selection, is a veteran of 87 career games with 75 starts at both left and right tackle during his NFL career. He is the first offensive player signed by the Raiders since free agency began on March 12.

A 6-foot-8, 315-pound tackle entering his eighth NFL season, Barron was selected by the Rams with the 19th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft out of Florida State...

Note: Check out what Rotoworld said about the move:  "Raiders agreed to terms with OT Alex Barron.
No word on if a penalty was committed in the process. Barron couldn't make it past final cuts with the Seahawks last season, and hasn't appeared in a game since 2010. The error-prone former Cowboy and Ram will turn 31 in September. Oakland is a good spot for Barron to attempt to rejuvenate his career because there is so little talent on Reggie McKenzie's roster."
