Mike Florio says people misunderstand restructuring and think the players are taking less money when they restructure. Florio says that it's quite the contrary. He says the players are not doing the teams a favor by restructuring, and taking less money (unless they also agree to a pay cut)....players like Palmer are actually getting MORE money NOW if they are simply restructuring. He says that even though Palmer is taking the league minimum of under a million dollars this year, he's getting a total of $11 million in his pocket....NOW. It just isn't counting against the cap. I don't quite understand this. I guess this is a signing bonus that doesn't count against the cap. Anyone else confused besides me?
