RIP Junior.  A consummate pro.  My condolences to his family.  I was watching Sportscenter last night and saw the press conference with his Mom.  The agony that woman is in is horrendous.

For those of us with virtual season tickets, NFL Sunday Ticket under $200 this year.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/20/directv-drops-price-of-sunday-ticket-under-200/

This is great news! I hope they keep the price under $200. It was getting very expensive. Maybe a few subscribers dropped out because of the high pricing.

Mickey Loomis, Saints deny eavesdropping allegations
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/saints-general-manager-mickey-loomis-allegedly-eavesdropped-opposing-195425507.html

holy shit. this is huge. remember the accusation that al davis had bugged the visiting coaches' meeting rooms, and one coach yelled up at the lights for al to hear him? (c'mon randy, dig up that piece of history.)

OK Robert. I found a few articles that talk about it, plus an article that details another interesting story of opponent's paranoia about Al Davis and the Raiders:

According to myth, former Chargers coach Harland Svare glowered at a light fixture in the Oakland visiting locker room in the late 1960s, hollering, "Damn you, Al Davis! I know you're up there!" Asked later if he bugged the lamp, Davis allowed only, "The thing wasn't in the light fixture, I'll tell you that."

http://www.sacbee.com/2011/10/16/3983034/al-davis-was-many-things-to-many.html#storylink=cpy

http://blog.syracuse.com/sports/2011/10/al_davis_syracuse_alum_and_reb.html

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1122518/5/index.htm

This is the lesser-known vignette that tells an even better story: It is five days before Super Bowl XIX at Stanford Stadium (January 20, 1985 vs SF 49ers). The AFC champion Miami Dolphins have gathered at the Oakland Coliseum for media day. The Raiders, of course, are long gone, having deserted the Bay Area for Los Angeles after the 1981 season.

Miami coach Don Shula seems amused as he studies the grass. Someone asks him why he’s smiling. “I always thought Al Davis had something to do with this,” he says, pawing at the mushy, marshy turf. “I guess not.”

(c'mon randy, dig up that piece of history.) whether al did it or not, he certainly got in the other coaches' heads. but this is huge. and thank god it's not the raiders. after the dumbest team in america, lane kiffin, jacarcus russell, that coach with the busted jaw, tom cable beating his wife, etc, etc, etc, we've had more than enough drama.

if this gets much worse, drew brees might really want to re-think signing a long-term deal in new orleans. there might not be much of a team left to play for.

Not at all.  All was not wrong to say that.  Telling your men to go out and play hard, physical football is completely different than offering bounties and targeting body parts.  Monte Poole is a hack.

I don't like Sapp at all but he is spot on with this.  WHY IS NEW ORLEANS IN THE HALL OF FAME GAME THIS YEAR?!  This is a dirty team from the top down.  Hence, this is also why our new HC is mum about all of it.

I want a win when this fake-ass new "America's team" that the media hyped up comes to Oaktown this fall...no cheap shots or trying to take out guys...just play 'em hard and let the "Aints" know who they're playing!  Tyvon Branch and Mike Mitchell I'm talking to you!

VOTE NOW for '76 Raiders in Greatest Team of All Time competition!
« Reply #46 on: March 27, 2012, 09:10:23 PM »
The 1976 Raiders won their quarter final matchup against the 1999 Rams in NFL.com's  "Greatest Team of All Time" competition...BARELY.

To make it to the semis, the '76 Raiders have beaten the '66 Packers, the '93 Cowboys, the '78 Steelers, and the '99 Rams. Two rounds to go for the Championship of All-Time!

Here's an article about their win in the Quarter-Finals.
http://www.silverandblackpride.com/2012/3/27/2905432/76-oakland-raiders-head-to-g-o-a-t-final-four

The semi-final voting round has begun, pitting the 1976 Raiders against the 1985 Bears to earn a spot against either the 2000 Ravens or the 1984 49ers in the final.

The Bears are currently leading the Raiders in the voting 54% to 46%, so VOTE NOW! Click on the '76 Raiders vs '85 Bears bracket (at the link below), then drag the slider towards the Raiders helmet.

Vote here, as many times as you'd like, on NFL.com:
http://www.nfl.com/features/bracketology/alltimeteams?round=5

I had to refresh my browser window after voting the 1st time, before it would let me vote again.

They have a video you can watch, where they analyze the hypothetical matchup...and it wasn't bad....except naturally they gave their opinions that the '85 Bears would have won the matchup.

Semi-Final voting lasts till 5pm Eastern Time tomorrow, Wednesday March 28th.... then the Finals voting ends on Friday March 30th, at 5pm Eastern.

Tim Tebow traded to NY Jets

The Broncos traded Tim Tebow plus their 7th round pick to the Jets for their 4th and 6th round picks in 2012. Boy, the Broncos didn't get much for Tebow considering they drafted him in the 1st round.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. what about the 'sanchize'? the only thing dumber would have been to sign russell. hey, maybe he'll be third string!

WOW! He DID come down....HARD!  :o
Too bad it wasn't the Broncos.

Wow NFL commish lay'th the smack down on the Saints.....

Looks like DA is in the clear....

No word yet on individual player suspensions yet...I'm mostly curious about if Porter will be suspended and reason he hasn't come in for a visit yet.
