49ers QB situation is one to envy
Steve Corkran, BayAreaNewsGroup

http://www.insidebayarea.com/raiders/ci_22060428/nfl-insider-san-francisco-49ers-quarterback-situation-is

This article has comments from Jim Plunkett on the 49ers QB situation. It also has an interesting comment by Steve Corkran, "don't be surprised if Nnamdi Asomugha ends up back with the Raiders or the 49ers given his strong Bay Area ties."

Can't say I'm too surprised....

But I honestly thought that if there was one place this guy could play to his potential, it was the Patri-rats.

New stadium each year for our away game...
« Reply #101 on: August 05, 2012, 04:40:20 PM »
     Hey Kev,
It seems like the away game that Randy/Greg and co will be at this year is in Atlanta...I'm trying to attend a game out west and everyone else is going East..lol....let's all meet in Kansas City next year!!:O)

Not us Steve (no KC next year). We can only do one away game a year, and we already went to KC. KC was great, but we need to do a new stadium each year. Too many stadiums we've never seen to be doing repeats.

China Doll Upset
« Reply #99 on: August 02, 2012, 12:40:09 AM »
Apparently Chaz "China Doll" Schilens didn't like Jets CB Cromartie saying he (Cromartie) was the 2nd best receiver on the team. Boo hoo. Schilens said he talked with Cromartie. He then blew out his knee, stubbed his toe, and sprained his vagina while walking away.

I like Schilens. He seems like a nice guy, and he could be a good player, if he could ever stop being constantly injured. For him to complain that someone who actually plays, like, every game thinks he's better than him, that's just ... wow. Hasn't he learned that in the NFL, it's either put up or shut up? There are no Al scholarships in NY, dude.

Do you see many Raider fans in your area kev?It was nice meeting you and your fiance at the Broncos game this past year...what game are you All going to this year?

Hey Steve,
The tailgate was off the hook! Everyone should experience that at least once in their lifetime!
It was great meeting you and everyone else there. I think about it all of the time!

There are a few Raider Fans here, I'm always bumping into them.  It's Eagle territory out here though, who tend to be dillusional, even the team's claiming that they will be a dynasty.

Not sure if we'll be able to make any games this year, though.  My fiancee's daughter was married this year and that cost a pretty penny.  I'd like to go to the game in Baltimore, it's only a couple of hours away from us.

Go Raiders!

hey kev,
I am Glad that you got the Sunday ticket at that Great price....my landlord just got direct tv....and i thought about paying the 199.00 myself....but i go to Mollys pub to support the owner Jeff(5 years now)...he has been showing the Raider games Forever-I am the Only Raider fan there. The few other Raider fans i have met have Direct tv and the Sunday ticket at their houses.Since the Raiders usually have late games jeff puts them on in the packers room....the Biggest flat screen in this Big sportsbar....but i have to get their early because the Bronco fans have been showing up the past few seasons(for their late game starts)-esp during tebows reign.Do you see many Raider fans in your area kev?It was nice meeting you and your fiance at the Broncos game this past year...what game are you All going to this year?

Here's the latest on the NFL Sunday Ticket "lower price".

NFL SUNDAY TICKET MAX offers the ultimate football experience. For five payments of $59.99, you can see every NFL game, every Sunday on your TV or on your smartphone, plus enjoy DIRECTV's own Red Zone Channel®, Game Mix, Short Cuts and Player Tracker. Total cost would be $299.95

For the lower price of $199.95, you will not get the games on your smartphone, computer or tablet. No DIRECTV's own Red Zone Channel®. No Short Cuts.

I was automatically billed for the "Max" package but I called Directv.  They asked if I was familiar with the new Sunday Ticket Max, I said yes but that I was not happy about the Red Zone Channel being moved to this package.  The CSR said he will see if I can get that channel at no additional charge for the year.  By the time the call ended, I received the entire NFL Sunday Ticket Max upgrade at no additional charge, just paying for the $199.95 NFL Sunday Ticket price for the year!

NFL relaxes blackout rule....teams need to sell as few as 85% of the seats now

but  "...Under the new rule, each team has more flexibility to establish its own seat-sales benchmark as long as it is 85% or higher. To discourage teams from setting easy benchmarks, teams will be forced to share more of the revenue when they exceed it."

So I guess that means that if a teams sets their "benchmark" at 85%, and they end up selling out 100%.....they will have to share more of that last 15% than they did before. If they set it at 95% for instance, they share a lower percentage except for the last 5%.

Also, I just found out a little more info. Teams have to notify the NFL before the season starts as to what percentage they are opting for (if they want a percentage lower than 100%). They must select the same percentage for every game. So if you only want to have to sell 85% to avoid a blackout, it must be 85% for every game....even the popular ones that are likely to sell out 100%. Since the Raiders sold out every game last year, and there is a lot of excitement about the team going into this season, I would expect the Raiders to just keep things like they were in the past and not lower the benchmark percentage.

Mickey Loomis, Saints deny eavesdropping allegations
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/saints-general-manager-mickey-loomis-allegedly-eavesdropped-opposing-195425507.html

holy shit. this is huge. remember the accusation that al davis had bugged the visiting coaches' meeting rooms, and one coach yelled up at the lights for al to hear him? (c'mon randy, dig up that piece of history.)

OK Robert. I found a few articles that talk about it, plus an article that details another interesting story of opponent's paranoia about Al Davis and the Raiders:

According to myth, former Chargers coach Harland Svare glowered at a light fixture in the Oakland visiting locker room in the late 1960s, hollering, "Damn you, Al Davis! I know you're up there!" Asked later if he bugged the lamp, Davis allowed only, "The thing wasn't in the light fixture, I'll tell you that."

http://www.sacbee.com/2011/10/16/3983034/al-davis-was-many-things-to-many.html#storylink=cpy

http://blog.syracuse.com/sports/2011/10/al_davis_syracuse_alum_and_reb.html

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1122518/5/index.htm

This is the lesser-known vignette that tells an even better story: It is five days before Super Bowl XIX at Stanford Stadium (January 20, 1985 vs SF 49ers). The AFC champion Miami Dolphins have gathered at the Oakland Coliseum for media day. The Raiders, of course, are long gone, having deserted the Bay Area for Los Angeles after the 1981 season.

Miami coach Don Shula seems amused as he studies the grass. Someone asks him why he’s smiling. “I always thought Al Davis had something to do with this,” he says, pawing at the mushy, marshy turf. “I guess not.”

Mickey Loomis, Saints deny eavesdropping allegations
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/saints-general-manager-mickey-loomis-allegedly-eavesdropped-opposing-195425507.html

holy shit. this is huge. remember the accusation that al davis had bugged the visiting coaches' meeting rooms, and one coach yelled up at the lights for al to hear him? (c'mon randy, dig up that piece of history.) whether al did it or not, he certainly got in the other coaches' heads. but this is huge. and thank god it's not the raiders. after the dumbest team in america, lane kiffin, jacarcus russell, that coach with the busted jaw, tom cable beating his wife, etc, etc, etc, we've had more than enough drama.

if this gets much worse, drew brees might really want to re-think signing a long-term deal in new orleans. there might not be much of a team left to play for.
