Now my opinion on the matter may differ from others but that's what makes it an opinion. I believe that the NFL's Rooney Rule ( which was implemented in 2003 to make it a requirement by NFL clubs to interview minorities for coaching positions on their teams) is that it's unnecessary. I understand why this Rule has been placed in the league but in my eyes its unnecessary. Personally I don't want to be hired for a job based on my ethnicity. I want the job because the employer believes I am the best person for the job. It'd be more of a slap in the face being interviewed just because a team has to by league rules. Now the Lions were fined 200,000 because they found a coach they wanted for their team, hired that coach before another team had the chance to intervene & didn't spend their time probing the open market for other candidates they had no intention of hiring, minority or other. I don't want my team losing out on the opportunity to have the likes of a John Madden or a Tony Dungy coaching my team just because they spent their valuable time interviewing other coaches just so they won't be fined. Same goes for the players. I want the best player for the position & the best coach for the job. It's 2013 for crying out loud.... can we get over this crap!?!
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooney_rule#section_4On Mr. Umm-uhhh McKenzie, we have to have patience with this guy, not only through his BOOORING press conferences but with his actions in building our team. D.A. on the other hand needs to go get his balls out of the pickle jar & duct tape those suckers back on or "at the end-of-the-day" his ass will be hittin' the road jack!
