Whats happening Raider Nation!
I've bled Silver & Black ever since I can remember. Born and raised in Oakland, but I moved to Salt Lake City a few years ago. Way too many asshole donkey fans up here, but hell it just gives me more motivation to rep harder. Looking to have some game watching parties and keep the nation strong out here. Definitely planning on taking a trip for the home opener though!
Favorite player of all time: Tim Brown. Even with his recent comments I can still say this.
Love the show,
GO RAIDERS

I was doing a little housekeeping with the forum files, and I decided to delete some forum member accounts that were inactive. I deleted any account that had not been logged into for more than a year. When I did that, it deleted at least one account that I did not mean to delete. "RaiderRanier Las Vegas" had just registered for the forum, I had just approved his membership, but he hadn't logged in for the first time yet. When I told the forum software to delete any account that hadn't been logged into for more than 365 days, it deleted his....since he had never logged in...yet.

If you read this RaiderRanier, sorry about that! Please rejoin and I will approve your account right away. Also, anyone else who I may have deleted. Rejoin and get back into the forum. You can't make posts until you are a registered member. Let's not let this forum get too slow on the offseason like it usually does. You know.....the Raiders, the NFL, and Raider Nation Podcast are YEAR ROUND!

Football Fundamentals / Which NFL teams use zone block...
Last post by Randy - December 15, 2012, 12:59:46 AM
According to this article, 16 teams use the zone blocking scheme, and 16 use man/power blocking. As far as 4-3 and 3-4 base defense, it says 20 teams use a 4-3 and 12 teams a 3-4 defense.

I went through the current NFL standings to compare the records of teams who use zone blocking to those who use power blocking. Of all the 1st place teams, 4 use zone and 4 use power. Of the 2nd place teams, 4 use zone and 4 power. The 3rd place teams, 4 zone - 4 power. The 4th place teams, 4 zone - 4 power.

For what it's worth, of the teams the Raiders have left to play this year, the Chiefs are a zone blocking team. The Panthers are zone, and the Chargers are power blocking.

Football Fundamentals / Defense: Gaps and Techniques
Last post by Randy - September 21, 2012, 09:12:29 PM
What is the "A Gap"?
What does "two gap" mean?

What is a "3-Technique"?
How about a "2-Technique"?
or a "6-Technique"?
or even a "0-Technique"?

1978    W, W, W, W      11                                        John Madden

Note: 2014 marked the 10th time in Raiders history that they started the year 0-2 in the 37 seasons since the league went to a 16 game schedule in '78. (2014, 2012, 2007, 2006, 2005, 1997, 1996, 1994, 1992, 1986) The most total wins they had in any of those years was nine (in 1994). The least total wins was two (in 2006).

Also note however that in 1987, the Raiders started the year 3-0, but won only 2 more games the rest of the way, for a total of 5 wins. That got Tom Flores fired.
